PICTOU - The home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Langille, Denoon St.,
was the scene of a pleasant gathering when Mrs. Ernest Corbett
assisted by Mrs. Karen Matheson entertained at a miscellaneous bridal shower
in honor of Coleen Langille whose marriage to Earl Simpson takes place Saturday
(*this is crossed out and Friday is handwritten over top)
in Pictou United Church.
There were about 25 present.
The guest of honor was escorted to a seat of honor which was decorated
with white and pink streamers with white bells trimmed in gold.
Tammy Matheson and Barbara Simpson carried in a decorated basket of wrapped gifts.
Mrs. George Bray passed the gifts to the bride-to-be and
Mrs. Steve Morton read the verses of best wishes on the accompanying cards.
Parlor games were played with prizes awarded to the winners.
A shower cake was presented to Coleen, which she cut and served to the guests.
Assisting the hostesses at the refreshment hour was Tammy Matheson.
Lucky napkin, and cup and saucer prizes were presented to Mrs. Jimmie Lloyd,
while the lucky chair prize went to Mrs. Les Simpson.

Simpson- Langille

Pictou United Church was the scene of a pretty wedding Nov. 23, 1973 at 7:30 pm.
when Coleen Rebecca Langille became the bride of Earle Leslie Simpson.
Rev. H.A. Farquhar performed the candlelight service.
Coleen is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Russell Langille, Pictou.
Earle is a son of Mrs. Leslie Simpson and the late Mr. Simpson, R.R.1 Pictou.
Nuptial music was played throughout the ceremony by Mrs. Thomas MacKenzie.
Guests pews were marked with bells and yellow and white ribbons.
The bride, given in marriage by her father,
wore a floor length gown of ivory polyester crepe styled on Victorian lines
and trimmed with lace of the same color.
Red roses were intertwined in her hair and she carried three long stemmed red roses.
Roland Teed, Scotsburn , was best man.
Ushers were Linton Starratt, Truro and Donald Simpson, Pictou.
A reception for 50 guests was held in the Church Hall.
For her daughter`s wedding, Mrs.Langille,
chose a street length dress of navy blue crimplene,
matching accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
For her son`s wedding, Mrs. Simpson
chose a two tone brown street length suit dress,
matching accessories and a corsage of yellow roses.
Grace was offered by Rev. H.A. Farquhar and
the toast to the bride was proposed by Kent Bingley.
Tammy Matheson, niece of the bride, Pictou, circulated the guest book.
Mrs. Donald Simpson, Pictou , served the bride`s table.
The bride and groom cut and served their cake in the traditional manner.
Telegrams were received from Mr. and Mrs. Terry Farrell and son T.J. Fonthill, Ont.
and Mr. and Mrs. James MacKean, Schefferville, Que.
The bride`s bouquet was caught by Lynn Starratt, Truro.
The blue garter was captured by Roy MacNeil, P.E. I.
A reception and dance was held at the Royal Canadian Legion for 200 guests.
Music was supplied by Dave and the Drifters.
For a honeymoon to Niagara Falls and various parts of Ontario,
the bride wore a suit dress of charcoal and red trimmed with white corresponding accessories.
The newlyweds will reside at 31 Denoon St. Pictou.
The groom is employed by Northumberland Ferries Ltd.
