on the oath of Charles McLennan
This Indenture made at River John this thirty-first day of August in the
year of our Lord, one thousand, eight hundred and fifty-four between
John Langill, Lewis' son of River John, in the County of Pictou, Yeoman, of
the
one part and David Langill, Lewis' son of River John, in the county
aforesaid, Yeoman, of the other part.
Witnesseth that the said John Langill, for and in consideration of the
sum
of two hundred pounds currency of the province of Nova Scotia to him in
hand
paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the
receipt
whereof is hereby acknowledged. Hath granted, bargained, sold,
remised,
released, enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents doth grant,
bargain, sell, remise, release, enfeoff and confirm unto the said David
Langill, his heirs and assigns forever, a certain lot or parcel of land
situate, lying and being on the north side of the Main Road from River
John
to Tatamagouche in the settlement of River John and county of Pictou,
aforesaid, abutted, bounded and described as follows.
Viz - Beginning on the north side of said Main Road from River John to
Tatamagouche and on the east boundary line of Lewis Tattrey's farm lot
running thence north on said boundary line forty-five chains to a
hemlock
tree, the north east angle of said farm lot on the rear line of the
first
division of lots on the Straits of Northumberland, thence east on said
rear
line seventeen chains and ninety links to a stake on the same, thence
south
forty-five chains to a stake on the north side of the Main Road
aforesaid
and thence west along the north side of the said Main Road, seventeen
chains
and ninety links to the place of beginning. Containing eighty acres,
more
or less, to have and to hold the said lot of land and premises with all
the
buildings and improvements thereon or thereunto belonging or in any way
appertaining to him, the said David Langill, his heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns to his and their only use, benefit and
behoof
forever. And the said John Langill doth hereby bind himself, his heirs,
executors, administrators and assigns against the lawful claim of all
and
every person or persons to warrant and defend the same David Langill,
his
heirs, executors, administrators and assigns in the peaceful and quiet
possession of the above conveyed premises forever.
In witness whereof the said John Langill, hath hereunto his name
subscribe
and seal affixed the day and year first above written.
