Archibald Langill, and wife, to George Langill, Christopher's son
Registered 26th August, 1846, 10 o'clock a.m. on the certificate of K. McLean, J.P.
This Indenture made the twenty-third day of August in the year of our Lord,
one thousand, eight hundred and fifty-six, between Archibald Langill of
River John, in the County of Pictou, Yeoman, and Catherine, his wife, of the
one part and George Langill, Christopher's son of River John aforesaid, in
the County of Pictou, aforesaid, Yeoman, of the other part.
Witnesseth that in consideration of the sum of twelve pounds of lawful money
of Nova Scotia to them in hand paid by the said George Langill at or before
the execution of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged.
They, the said Archibald Langill and Catherine, his wife, have and each of
them hath granted, bargained, sold, aliened, enfeoffed and confirmed and by
these presents do and each of them doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff
and confirm unto the said George Langill, his heirs and assigns, that
certain lot of land situate, lying and being on the western side of the
Mountain Road so called, the County of Pictou aforesaid, abutted, bounded
and described as follows.
Viz., beginning on the western side of said road at the north eastern angle
of the said George Langill's farm lot and running thence west on the same
seventy-three chains to the east boundary line of the Dean and Chapter
lands, thence north along said boundary line two chains thirteen links,
thence east fifty-eight chains to a stake and stones at the north west angle
of a three acre lot formerly conveyed by Deed bearing date 30th November
1854, thence south two chains to a stake and stones at the south west angle
of said three acre lot, thence east on the same fifteen chains to the
western side of said road and thence southerly along the same thirteen links
to the place of beginning, containing twelve acres, more or less, with all
and singular the privileges and appurtenances to the said lot or piece of
land belonging, or in any wise appertaining, and the reversions and
remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof and also all the estate,
right, title, interest, claim, property and demand whatsoever both at Law
and in Equity of him the said Archibald Langill and all the Dower, right or
title to Dower or other interest of her the said Catherine Langill, his
wife, in, to, out, of or upon the same lot of piece of land and premises
with the appurtenances hereinbefore described and hereby sold and conveyed
or intended so to be and every part, parcel thereof unto him the said George
Langill, his heirs and assigns and to his and their only proper use, benefit
and behoof forever.
In witness whereof the said Archibald Langill and Catherine, his wife, have
hereunder set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Received on the day of the date of the foregoing Instrument from George
Langill therein named, the sum of twelve pounds of lawful money of Nova
Scotia, being the full consideration therein mentioned to be paid by him to
me.

Be it remembered that on this twenty-third day of August in the year of our
Lord, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-six, there personally appeared
before me the subscriber, one of Her Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the
County of Pictou, Mrs. Catherine Langill, who is a party to the within
Instrument and wife of Archibald Langill, Christopher's son, also a party
thereto who being by me examined acknowledged that the said Instrument was
by her executed for the purposes therein set forth and that freely and
voluntarily without any force or compulsion on the part of her said husband.

I do certify that Mr. John Gould, one of the subscribing witnesses to the
within Instrument came personally before me and made oath that he was
present at and witness to the execution of the same by Christopher Langill
and Catherine Langill, his wife, the parties thereto.
