Langill - Langille Family Letters
From Aunt Cassie (nee Langille) to Louise - 1952
28 Queen St
Truro, N. S.
Dec 3rd,/52
Dear Louise,
I have been writing and looking over some letters which I knew I had not answered
and when I came to yours altho I think of you so often since heard from you and was so pleased.
Like you I did not want (to) lose all contact with my dear brothers family
so I thought the best thing was just write again.
I do not mind writing I hear people say it gives them a pain to write, it never hurt me that way.
So to begin I will tell you I live with Irene and Edith.
Effie is married. Her husbands name is Henry Williamson. They live in Newark, N.J.
They come home every summer and spend the month of July.
He is an Englishman and was born in Blackburn a few miles from London.
Of course, you know Aunt Millie (Amelia) is dead and her oldest boy
Warren has been dead about three years or perhaps it is more.
Donald his brother who was in the war lives in Los Angeles. Warren lived there too.
Wallace and Douglas still live in Oregon. They are all married. Warren had only on daughter.
I am not sure about Donald having any. Douglas has two girls.
Wallace lives in Portland. Douglas lives in Hillsboro, not far from Portland..
Thelma has four children, two girls and two boys. Her oldest girl Harriet is married, has on little girl.
I do not know much or anything more to write unless you ask me something.
Aunt Edith is living in Brookline, Mass
Our love to all of you
Aunt Cassie
The writer of the letter was Catherine J. Langille (Cassie) born in 1862,
she married Ebeneezer Finch McCurdy, and lived in Truro, Nova Scotia
"Dear Louise" - is Geraldine Louise Sellers, daughter of Winnifred Helen Langille & Albertus Sellers
The "dear brothers family" that Cassie writes of in the beginning of the letter,
is Jacob R. Langille (September.17.1866/7 - November.06.1922).
The Irene & Edith mentioned would very likely be Cassie's daughters, Irene & Edith McCurdy.
Aunt Millie (Amelia) was Cassie's sister - Amelia Langille, born July.15.1872.
Warren and Donald were her sons.
It's not clear if Wallace, Douglas, & Thelma are also Amelia's children.
Thank you to Mike Morgan for sharing this family letter.
