This is an original photo in our collection,
taken May 7, 1907. It is the Nash country school in Hennepin, Illinois.
In the photo are 10 people. Written on the blackboard in the background
are the names of the people in the photo. However, three of the names
are off the left side of the photo and unreadable.
The words on the blackboard are:
Written on the black album paper below the photo is "Country
School in Henne". The rest of the paper has been torn off.
According to my research (based on
the research of others - I do not have document support), the
McLean's in the photo are the son and daughter of George W. McLean (b:
30Sep1838 d: 28Jun1920) and Katherine Maria Leech (b: 21May1877 d:
The reason this photo is in my family's collection is
that I have a by-marriage ancestry to Thomas King Leech: he is
Katherine's brother and uncle to Ferne and George McLean.
