Nash School
Hennepin, Illinois
May 7, 1907

This is an original photo in our collection, taken May 7, 1907. It is the Nash country school in Hennepin, Illinois. In the photo are 10 people. Written on the blackboard in the background are the names of the people in the photo. However, three of the names are off the left side of the photo and unreadable.

The words on the blackboard are:

Nash School

May 7, 1907

Miss M. Bisher

Elsa J. Coleman

Charles Bonges

Charlotte Nash

Ferne McLean

Fred Coleman

George McLean

Written on the black album paper below the photo is "Country School in Henne". The rest of the paper has been torn off.

According to my research (based on the research of others - I do not have document support), the McLean's in the photo are the son and daughter of George W. McLean (b: 30Sep1838 d: 28Jun1920) and Katherine Maria Leech (b: 21May1877 d: 1941).

The reason this photo is in my family's collection is that I have a by-marriage ancestry to Thomas King Leech: he is Katherine's brother and uncle to Ferne and George McLean.
