Justus Lamphear;¹ born November 1844 Canton, St. Lawrence County, New York; married Martha Westover, daughter of John M. Westover and Ellenore Gill, 23 August 1892 Weyauwega, Wisconsin; died 9 April 1926 Wisconsin at age 81; buried April 1926 Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau, Wisconsin.   View photo of Justus and Martha Lamphear

Justus's eye sight continually diminished until he was almost completely blind by 18. He remained indepentant and did many things on his own including sewing on his own buttons. (As long as someone threaded the needle for him.)

Martha Westover was born on 12 August 1868 Alma County, Minnesota. She appeared on the census of 18 June 1900 Big Flats Township, Adams County, Wisconsin.⁴ She died on 29 December 1907 Wisconsin at age 39. She was buried in January 1908 Pine Grove on Main Street, Wausau, Wisconsin.

The three known children of Justus Lamphear and Martha Westover were as follows:

1. Neal James Lamphear was born June 29, 1893 in Wisconsin,  Neal married Olive I. McCormick.   Olive  was born around 1897 in Wisconsin. She died in 1983.

2. Arthur R. Lamphear was born July 11, 1894 10 am. Sunday, Lind Townshp, Waupaca County, Wisconsin; died of appendiciditis on February 4, 1906 11 yr, 7 mo, 5 days, Big Flats, Adams County, Wisconsin; he was buried 5 February 1906 Big Flats Cemetery, Big Flats, Adams County, Wisconsin.

3. Laura Bell Lamphear was born November 6, 1900 Adams County, Wisconsin; Laura married Irving Edward Babcock in June 1920.   Irving was born on November 6, 1895. He died on July 27, 1972 at age 76.  Laura died on January 23, 1977 at the age of 76
