Son of Zebulon and Betsy (Hier) Lamphear
Chester Lamphear was born November 1844 Canton Townshp, St. Lawrence County, New York;
married Ellen Frances Woodward 1872 Waseca County, Wisconsin; (Possibly named Nellie, or
Chester has another marriage?) Chester died 4 April 1931 Hayward, Wisconsin, at age
86.
Note about Nellie: Perhaps Ellen was nicknamed Nellie or Chester was married more
than once. Nellie was born in August 1859 in New Hampshire. She died on
12 April 1905 possibly in Hayward, Wisconsin, at age 45.
The six known children of Chester Lamphear were as follows:
1. Edna L. Lamphear;3 married ______ Doyle; she
born August 1885 Minnesota and died 1912 El Paso, Texas.
2. Jessie Lamphear was born around 1886 in Wisconsin. She married
Frank C. Williams.
3. Arthur Lamphear was born April 16, 1890
Minnesota and died April 1978 in Hayward, Sawyer County, Wisconsin.
4. Mabel Lamphear, married Howard Oakes Sr.
5. Mae H. Lamphear; born April 1894 Minnesota. Also
listed as Ida Mae. She was still going by Lamphear in 1939.
6. Clarence Lamphear; born August 1898 Minnesota;
died November 21, 1937 in Hayward, Wisconsin, at age 39. He died before his wife and
three children. He lived in Hayward, Wisconsin.
