Elizabeth Hier was the daughter of Justus and Elizabeth Hier.

1851 Justus Hier, father of Betsy, dies in Canton, New York.

1854. Around 1854 Zebulon and Betsy moved to Weyeuwega, Wisconsin and then later Lind Township, Waupaca County, Wisconsin, becoming some of the first settlers of the area. It is said that they traveled in a wagon train with others from New York.

William, their last child was born around this same time, perhaps right before they began to travel west.

1897, March. Obituary from the Waupaca Record [date correct?]

"DIED. Died, in Lind, on Monday the 22nd , Betsey Lamphear, widow of the late Zeblen Lamphear. She was born in Vermont in 1811. She, with her husband, came to Wisconsin in 1853 and settled in Lind, Waupaca county, where they continued to live til their death. Mr. Lamphear died about four years ago. There was a family of eleven children, seven sons and four daughters, one daughter died some years ago and the ten children remain to mourn the loss of an affectionate mother. The funeral was conducted at the late residence Wednesday, Rev. S. Jolliffe officiating."
