Lamb,
J., Unknown, & Mary- Marriages
PARENTS
The signature on the church baptism record for Charles, son of Charles Ellerton & Maria Lamb proves that John Lamb was in Canada on 17 November 1836. See Ellerton / Lamb / Shepard page. In fact John's signature (probably John Sr.) as a witness is shown on a Jackson church baptism record on 2 June 1836. See Miscellaneous Transcribed Church Record page.
The 1851 Census shows Samuel Lamb, Marian Lamb, & John Lamb all living as one family in Hemmingford Township in a single story log house with four houses under construction & a Blacksmith Shop. All three were born in England and were Episcopal in religion. Samuel was listed as a blacksmith and John was shown to be a labourer. How John Lamb was related to Samuel & Marian is unknown. Possibly an uncle - nephew-with-wife relationship. Samuel & Mary Ann appear to have had no children.

Also, I found in the Clinton Co. courthouse in Plattsburgh two Lamb testate records: Samuel Lamb, d. 1/5/1904 and Mary Ann Lamb, d. 4/13/1907. Mary Ann left a will which is probably on file at the courthouse.

Speculate that the above William Lamb is a
brother to John (b. 8 NO 1822), Maria, & Mary Ann.
Old letters from England show that Maria, Mary Ann, & their mother, Mary, lived together on Alma Street, Withernsea, Yorkshire County, England during the 1870s.

Samuel's & Mary Ann's Farm
A parcel of farm land consisting of 37 acres situated in the Township of Champlain, Clinton County, New York and lying on the northerly side of the road leading from Champlain village to Rouses Point, N. Y., and lying between lands owned by James Palmer's Estate on the west and Joseph Pettinger's Estate on the east and also on the north, and being traversed by the Ogdensburg & Lake Champlain Rail Road track. Said farm lies about a mile and a half from Champlain post office, and contains a story and a half farm house and some old barns. Said land is good only for farming and in the opinion of Thomas H. Dickinson who was personally acquainted with Sam & Mary for many years, the value should not exceed $50 per acre - 18 May 1907.
