Janet Gilbert daughter of James Gilbert, farmer, Hinchinbrook, and Agnes Muir his wife, was born on the second day of February, one thousand eight hundred and Sixty one, and was baptized on the tenth day of March following, by - Alexander Wallace, Minister.

The 1851 Census shows Samuel as being born in USA. 1861 Census showed him as being born in Canada.
Samuel was a farmer. Janet was a teacher. She taught school in School # 5, Havelock Township. Once married, they lived on the farm that Samuel grew up on. That farm was at 2182 Covey Hill Road, Lot 48c (Allchin), Franklin Township, Huntingdon County, Quebec, Canada.

Samuel and Janet were buried in the Ames Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Bridgetown, Route 202, Franklin Township, Huntingdon County, Quebec, Canada.
