Lamb,
W. A. & Dawson, M. J. Marriage
PARENTS
Martha Jane is recorded in the records of the Wesleyan
Methodist Congregation in the Circuit of Beauharnois, as the
daughter of Edward Dawson, yeoman of Hinchinbrooke, and Susanne
Fennell, born 10 Jul 1857 and christened, 23 Aug 1857.
Minister, W Hansford and witness, Mary M Winter. This is
from Microfilm Reel M333-8 Image 148, of the records of the
Protestant Churches of the District of Beauharnois.
There are two Fennell
baptisms on the same reel, Robert, Image 135 in 1856 and William,
Image 149 in 1857, but I do not have the details. The
latter was probably on the same day as Martha Jane's.

The 1891 Census shows William still living at home with his
parents, his brother Samuel, and his sister-in-law Janet.
William married Martha and lived on a farm in Franklin
Township. I have speculated that it was part of Lot 50,
Concession 1, the Gamble Farm, about 3/4 mile west of the Lamb home farm on Covey
Hill Road.
William
was still in Franklin Centre on 18 JA 1899 as church
records show that he & his wife wittnessed the baptism of
their youngest known son, William Edward.
Apparently, due to financial difficulities, William &
his family moved to Western Canada. This would have taken place before the 31 MR
1901 Census as they are not noted in these Franklin Twp. records. Possibly
he settled near Livelong, Saskatchewan. which is about 55 miles slightly
north-of-east of Lloydminster. Franklin Centre Methodist Church Records
show that they had at least 4 children before leaving the area. My father said
he chewed tobacco & that he had the trade of a brick-layer/stone mason.
