This family lived in a log house. There had been one death in the family of an 83 year old person in the previous year. I concluded that this was John Lamb, the father of Charles' first wife (28 NO 1776 - 8 JE 1860).

Maria, wife of Isaac Hobbs & a first child named Charles, both children of Maria Lamb & Charles S. Ellerton, were buried in the Old Henryburg Cemetery, Route 217, Municipality of St. Bernard de Lacolle, St. Jean County, Quebec. Conflict of dates: gravestone shows death as 18 AP 1840, church record clearly shows 8 AP 1840. It is unknown as to what happened to Isaac Hobbs. The second child named Charles lived with his father and step-mother Mary Ester as shown by the 1861 Census.
