1955 WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
Roxham - On Tuesday evening, June 7th, friends and relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Akester to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Although completely surprised, Mr. and Mrs. Akester cordially invited all into their home. Mrs. John Smith (Florence) then presented her mother with a corsage of red carnations.
Card tables were then set up and those who wished spent the evening playing "500", while others just visited with old friends.
About 12 o’clock their family, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Akester, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Akester and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kyle served refreshments. A three-tiered pink and white wedding cake was cut by the bride of 50 years.
Mr. Harold Wallace called on little Brenda Akester, the couple’s grand-daughter, to present a gaily decorated box of anniversary cards containing money. The couple also received other gifts to mark the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Akester fittingly replied. "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" was sung and the crowd left wishing Mr. and Mrs. Akester many more years of wedded life.
Those who attended from a distance were Mrs. Louise Dodds and Mrs. Jos. Mitchell, from Plattsburg, N.Y.; Mrs. Mary Trepanier, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Akester, Brenda and Bonnie and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Akester, Luena and Kenna, from Montreal.

William & Hattie were both buried in the Roxham Cemetery, Roxham Road, St. Bernard de Lacolle Municipality, St. Jean County, Province of Quebec, Canada.
CHILDREN
Leslie was buried in Hemmingford, QC. His wife Doris died in Hemmingford, QC.
Florence was born in and died in Roxham, QC.
