BIRTH: George was possibly born in New Hampshire, USA. Charlotte was born in Lower Canada.

MARRIAGE: George Grimshaw, son of Guillaume Grimshaw and Elizabeth Lepninah, married Sept. 9, 1817 in St-Luc, Quebec, Charlotte Menard, daughter of Jean-Baptiste Menard & Marie Clement. [Record says that George is from Germany!]

RESIDENCE: Family appears on the 1852 and 1861 census of Wolfe Island, ON. Information found in Queen's University Archives. George Grimshaw purchased 31 acres of Land (on Wolfe Island) being lot W 1 in 15th Con. NBL (North Base Line)

DEATH/BURIAL: Unknown where either George or Charlotte died or where they were buried.

[Spelling of the name Lepninah could be an interpretation by a French speaking clerk of an English name and is not necessarily correct.]

We have been the godfather & the godmother has been Miss Sophie Marchand who signed with us: His father was absent

Le neuf Septembre mil huit cent dix-sept, avec Lapprobation de heprise Roux, Diacise Général de ce Diaceise, nous pritse souligné, Curé en cette Caroipe, avons rece Se mutuel en sentment le marriage de George Grimshaw, laboureur, fil légitime de Guilliumme Grimshaw, & d'Elizabeth Lepriaah, ses pére & mére de St Armand, de la Paroisse de St. Pierre, & de Charlotte Ménard, fille mineur de Jean Baptiste Menard your nalhier, & de Marie Clément ses pére & mére de cette Paroisse: Les parties ayant obtenu dispense de trois publications de bans de marriage du Dit Nepire Roux; et leur avons donné la bénédiction neuptiale avec les ceremonies prescrites par notre mére La Ste. Elgise, et ce en prés en a d'Etienne Chabot, suivant le pére a L'epouix, de famt Baptiste Volin, son ami, de Jean Baptiste Ménard frére de Léspouse, de Joseph Richard, & d' pleusures autres qui tous, ainsi que les époux, ont déclaré ne Savoir signer, de ce requis, Lectces a faite.

Red, General Diacise of this Diacise,we took underline, Priest of this Parish, with mutual & with agreement the marriage of George Grimshaw, Labourer, legitimate son of William Grimshaw & Elizabeth Lepriaah, his father & mother of St. Armand, of the Parish of St. Pierre, & of Charlotte Menard, minor daughter of Jean Baptiste Menard ?, & of Marie Clement her father & mother of this parish: The parties having obtained ? of three publications of marriage bans of ?, & their having given the neuptial benedition with the prescribed ceremonies by our mother The Saint Church, & this one near Etienne Chabot, following the father of the wife, ? Baptiste Volin, his friend , of Jean Baptiste Menard brother of the wife of Joseph Richard, & of many others, as well as the spouses, declared to have signed, this request, section made.
