JOHN RUSSELL COVEY
John Russell Covey, father of Mrs. Herbert Moore of Sandy Creek, died August 27, 1943 at the Boylston church as the result of a heard attack. The funeral service was held August 30 at Ellenburg Depot, Rev. Melvin R. McGaughey, pastor of the Methodist church where Mr. Covey had been a member for 36 years. Burial was in Sheldon Hill cemetery.
Mr. Covey, who for many years was a general contractor in Pittsfield, Mass., spent his retiring years at Ellenburg Depot, N. Y., which was his birthplace, February 12, 1868. His parents were William Covey and Mrs. Fannie Adelia Wells Covey. July 18, 1889 he was married to Miss Harriet Melissa Vosburgh, whose death occurred in Sandy Creek July 25 of this year.
He is survived by his stepmother, Mrs. Susan Covey; one brother, Rufus Covey of Northfleld, Vt, one sister, Almeda Miller, one stepsister, Eunice Tucker of Bradford, Vt., one stepbrother, Ellsworth Covey of Ellenburg Depot; one stepbrother of Northfleld, Vermont; one daughter, Ethel, Mrs. Herbert Moore, Sandy Creek. The oldest daughter, Fannie, passed away March 6, 1939. He also leaves fivegranddaughters, Mrs. Carl Sherwin (Ruby Drown) of Malone; Mrs. Frank Moore (Edith Drown) of Malone; Mrs. Forest Gibson (Ida Drown) of Chazy; Mrs. Lyle Brooks (Bertha Drown) of Ellenburg; and Miss Lila Moore of Sandy Creek; two grandsons, Glenn Moore of Sandy Creek; and Charles Drown and one great-grand-daughter.
