COMMENTARY

It appears that John & Roxanna lived on the lot or part of the lot that Samuel Covey (~1772 - >1860) had when he returned to Hemmingford Township from Clarenceville in about 1830. That was Lot 51. I wonder if Samuel shared Lot 51 with his brother James. It is possible that John & Roxanna received the Lot from James, John's father. When Franklin Township was formed, this lot became part of the new township. I believe that "Queenie" Briscoe lived on that property with her son James Tucker during the time I grew up (1950's to mid 1960's), about a mile and a half east of that property.  Queenie was a nurse and James was a truck driver.  James never married.   Right across from that property would have been the Briscoe Sideroad connecting Covey Hill Road to Route 209.  The Briscoe Sideroad had the Rowe School on the west side of it, just south of where it crossed Route 209.  Possibly the children of John & Roxanna went to this school. The Briscoe SideRoad is no longer in use & is not even shown on the latest topographical maps. Up to this point I am unable to find either Sam & James in any census.

The 1831 census for the Township of Hemmingford is missing from the Archives, unfortunately, it appears we will never see these.
