Mildred I. Morrison

Rouses Point

Mildred I. Morrison, 80, of Manor Drive, Rouses Point, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Mooers Forks on Oct. 23, 1922, the daughter of Robert and Julia (Sharrow) Morrison.

She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Rouses Point. Mildred was a bartender at the Holland Motel for 20 years, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include, three brothers, Charles Morrison of Rouses Point, Lawrence Morrison of Mooers Forks and Willis "Pete" Morrison and his wife Marion of Champlain; three sisters, Eleanor Baker of Plattsburgh, Geraldine Garrand of Plattsburgh and Pauline Baker and her husband Loyal of Chazy; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Gertrude Turner; and one brother, Leonard Morrison.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. St. Patrick’s Church in Rouses Point. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Champlain.

Donations may be made to the Cancer Society.

Margaret B. Gadway

MOOERS FORKS - Margaret B. Gadway, 70, of Davison Road, died on Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Altona, N.Y. on March 4, 1931, the daughter of Clarence and Lena (Brunell) Walker.

She married Leo J. Gadway Jr. at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks in 1954.

She was employed at the Lisk Company in Canandaigua from 1949 to 1953 and then at Supreme Footwear in Mooers from 1953 to 1961.

Mrs. Gadway was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church, the Altar Rosary Society and formerly a member of the Clinton County Home Bureau.

Survivors include her husband, Leo; three brothers, C. George Walker of Canandaigua, N.Y., Willard "Robert" Walker and his wife, Doris of Mooers Forks and Bernard Walker of Rouses Point; four sisters, Bernice Wilson of Rouses Point, Clara and her husband, Dominic Tripodi of Canandaigua, N.Y., Marion and her husband, Willis Morrison of Champlain and Ethel and her husband, Wright Sample of Mooers Forks; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 6136 in Mooers will meet at the Funeral Home at 7:30 p.m. for services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc. or the American Cancer Society.

Bernard A. Garrand

MOOERS FORKS - Bernard A. Garrand, 80, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility in Plattsburgh.

He was born in Mooers on Feb. 13, 1921, the son of Frank and Delia (Arquet) Garrand.

He married Geraldine Morrison on Nov. 7, 1945, at St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks.

Mr. Garrand was a member of St. Ann’s Church. He was an avid gardener.

Bernard was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force. He served in the Normandy Campaign, Rome-Arno Campaign, Northern France Campaign, Germany Campaign and the Southern France Campaign.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine of Plattsburgh; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert and Lona Garrand of Plattsburgh, Michael Garrand of Rouses Point, Steven Garrand of Plattsburgh and Tammie Garrand of Chazy; six daughters, Bernadette and Garth Blow of Champlain, Barbara Garrand of Hemmingford, Rita and James Nichols of Burlington, Vt., Norma Garrand of Plattsburgh, Brenda and Gary Luther of Syracuse and Joan Garrand of Michigan; one brother, Roger and Evelyn Garrand of Mooers Forks; one sister, Catherine Rabideau of Mooers Forks; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by four brothers, Joseph, Merritt, Leo and Ernest Garrand ; three sisters, Adele Miller, Blanche Rabideau and Beatrice Rabideau and one grandson, Johnny Dauphinais.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church in Mooers Forks. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the CVPH Medical Center Foundation or to the Champlain Volunteer Fire Department.
