Arthur Grimshaw Guest of Honor
On 81st BirthdayArthur Grimshaw was guest of honor at a birthday party held at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grimshaw in Champlain recently on the occasion of his 81st birthday.
A barbeque lunch was served on the lawn and was topped off by two decorated birthday cakes made for the occasion by his daughters, Mrs. Lester Ashline and Mrs. Orel Boire.
Among the 46 relatives and friends who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grimshaw, Mr. and Mrs. Orel Boire and children; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bouyea and children, Francis Baker, all of Chazy; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Ashline and sons, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grimshaw and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ashline and son, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Premore and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Romain Dumisnel and sons, all of Champlain; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parent and daughter of Chateaugay; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Mayotti and daughters of Ballston, Spa., Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Strack and daughter and Woodrow Clark, Jr. all of Rouses Point.
Following lunch gifts were presented to Mr. Grimshaw and a social afternoon followed.

Funeral services for Arthur Grimshaw, 85, of Champlain who died at the Schas Nursing Home in Malone Friday, December 5, 1969 were held at 10 a. m. at St. Mary’s Church, Champlain, on Monday.
The Rev. Donald Sequin conducted the Libra Service Monday. The Funeral Mass was sung on Tuesday at 9 a. m. at St. Mary’s Church. Bearers were Dwight Hitchcock, Earl Clark, Felix Bechard, Leon Robinson, Joey Grimshaw and Clarence Grimshaw, Jr.
The body was placed in St. Mary’s vault for burial later. Father Sequin recited committal prayers.
Mr. Grimshaw, a life long resident of Champlain, operated a dairy farm and milk delivery route in the area for many years prior to his retirement. He was born in Champlain July 4, 1884, son of William and Mary (O’Dell) Grimshaw. He was married to the former Josie Senecal who died in 1959.
Surviving are three sons, Clarence of Chazy, Henry of Champlain and Edward of Valley View, Pa.; four daughters, Mrs. Lester Ashline (Dorothy) of Champlain, Mrs. Henry Baldridge (Gladys) of Jacksonville, N. C., Mrs. Lawrence Gamelin (Marian) of Champlain and Mrs. R. L. Boire (Theresa) of Chazy; 27 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.

Vermont highway truck overturns, killing Lawrence Dumas of Mooers
MOOERS—Lawrence Dumas, 42, suffered fatal injuries Tuesday morning while working on a highway construction project on Interstate Route 89 near the Town of St. Albans, Vt.
The accident occurred about 11:55 a.m., when the Euclid bottom dump truck hew was operating for the Lane Construction Co. Overturned as he tried to dump it.
He was pinned between the cab and the ground.
Lifting equipment was used to remove him from the wreck.
He was rushed to the Kerbs Memorial Hospital in St. Albans where he died from a crushed lower abdomen approximately one hour after arrival.
He is survived by his wife, the former Renee LaMere; his parents, Joseph and Irene (Kingsbury) Dumas; three sons, Lawrence Jr., 20, Patrick 9, and Leonard, 4; two daughters, Linda, 16, and Bonnie, 13; and three sisters, Mrs. Albert Dean of West Chazy, Mrs. James Babbie of Keeseville, and Mrs. Edward Grimshaw of Harmon.
The body is at the Clark Funeral Home in Champlain where Calling hours start tonight at 7.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Mooers, with interment in the parish cemetery.

Edward C. Grimshaw
WILMINGTON, Del. -- We joyously celebrate the rich and long life of Ed Grimshaw, age 90, of Millsboro, Del., and recently Plattsburgh, N.Y., where he resided with family for the past year. He passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2007.
Ed was born in 1917 near the Canadian border in Champlain, N.Y. He spent much of his career as a store manager with Agway, Inc., retiring from the Middletown, Del., location after nearly 50 years of service. He never missed a day of work in his life.
He led an active and energetic social life and made many friends along the way in his memorable life journey. He is remembered for his commitment to community leadership and volunteerism, for which he received the Jefferson Award for Public Service.
He enjoyed dancing, traveling, playing cards, casino trips, bowling and playing shuffleboard. He loved being with his long-time friends at the Indian River Senior Center in Millsboro, Del., and new friends at the Senior Center in Plattsburgh, N.Y. We will never forget his quick smile, charm, humor and love of story-telling, including his incredibly accurate memory for dates and details.
In July of 2007, he celebrated his 90th birthday, surrounded by 80 friends and family from across the country with a surprise party in New York. Thanks to Gerri Dumesnil for her efforts in organizing this surprise, which gave him much joy and many happy memories at the end of his life.
He was predeceased by his 12-year companion, Helen Kiesel; and previously by his wife of 30 years, Joyce (Dumas) Grimshaw. His memory is held dear by his daughter, Kynda Annable and her husband John; stepdaughter, Jayla Boire; and sister, Theresa Boire.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Mary Mother of Peace, Routes 24 and 5 Oak Orchard, followed by a luncheon reception at the Georgia House, Main Street, Millsboro, Del.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, c/o Heartland Hospice House, 5661 Ochletree Lane, Wilmington, DE 19808.
