JOHN TROXEL LAMBING (1788-1878)
(Son of Peter and Catharine Troxel Lambing)
John Troxel Lambing was the
son of Peter Lambing. He married Margaret Wolf in Adams county, March
1st, 1818. In a hand written document copied from information obtained
from Ida Evans, which appeared to be taken from church records, the following
was stated:
Margaret Wolfe was baptized
by me the undersigned in the Church of St. Mary, in the township of Westmorland,
Adams County Monday the tenth day of September 1821. The said Margaret
was born in Westmoreland County, PA on the 7th day of April 1794 of Conrad
Wolfe and Margaret Roytes (Reytes or Beyten) who were lawfully married.
Attested under my hand and seal this 10th September 1821. Henry Conwell,
Bishop of Philadelphia. Sponsors John Henry and Barbara his wife.
John T. Lambing and the above mentioned Margaret Wolfe
were duly joined in Holy Wedlock immediately after the above baptism was
solemnized and the offspring legalized. This was performed in the
presence of John Henry and Barbara his wife.
Signed Henry Bishop of Philadelphia
I am of the opinion that Margaret
Wolfe had not been baptized as a Catholic when she first married John Troxel
Lambing and was later baptized into the Catholic faith and the marriage
sanctified as described above.
