We come together to honor our ancestors and family who are at rest here.  Our speaker, Mr. Newby this year in his talk mentioned how he felt love here in this cemetery this year and in the previous year.  He felt it as he entered the grounds.  No more fitting tribute could be stated.  We are here for love of our family members who are departed.

Ancestors of
Georgia Mae Locke Womack and Mattie Ruth Locke Stalcup, who are
the daughters of  George  Robert and Mattie Rowland  Locke, who is
the daughter of Joseph  Hertial and Lydia Ann Clark  Rowland, who is
the daughter of  John C. and Lydia Mitchell Clark whose ancestor is
Mark Mitchell, who served with George Washington.

Ancestors of no one, Bill and Carlee had no children; Thersa, her sister who lived with them, never married.
Behind their stone are the women's Pettit ancestors' tombstone of  James and Sarah L. Miller Pettit and the stone of William and Abigail Miller Pettit, their grandparents.  The stone of their brother, William Flanders Pettit and his wife, Oneida Lillie Simpson is also visible.
Bill, whose real name is William Martin Duncan is a "Rock" and "Jennie" Bradford Martin descendant through his father, John Duncan whose mother was Mary Martin.  Bill is also a Benedict and Elizabeth Middleton Rust descendant through his mother, Artimelia P. Rust Duncan who is the daughter of John C. and Elizabeth Northcross Rust.
Bill is a second cousin of Jacqueline Hash Haley, Juanita Martin Templeton King and Kenneth Curtis; and half second cousin to Mollie Paige Lusk, Mansfield and William Douglas.
Carlee and Thersa are grand aunts to Alberta Kirby Fulp, great-grand aunts of Ladye Jane Hunter, first cousins of James Miller Hash and Silas Abraham Drake, IV

This is two sides of the same stone.  No descendants of this couple attend.  One reason may be that we have not located their descendants.  H. Reed Gribble died shortly before their last child, Mary R. was born in 1899 and the mother, Emma Smith Gribble died the year after.  Their children were in the household of their grandparents, Abraham and Emily Hite Campbell Smith in the 1900 Warren County Census.  The children are Rust descendants through their grandmother.  Abraham and Emily Hite Campbell Smith are buried here also.

Until next year . . .
