Welcome! This home page was created to serve as a gathering place and information clearinghouse for those with an interest in the Laberge surname and any of its variations. Most persons bearing the Laberge or Labarge name in North America are descended from Robert de la Berge who left France in 1658 and settled in the area which would become L'Ange Gardien, Quebec. The name Laberge means one who lives on a bank, on the edge of a river or a canal. The name has taken on several variations, with the most common being: Laberge, Labarge, Lebarge, and Liberge. Additionally, the various versions of the name are often spelled with a capitalized "B." Enjoy your visit here. Contributions of material are always welcomed. Feel free to subscribe to the Laberge Family Mailing List and say hello to the many others interested in the surname. Be sure to sign the guestbook before you leave. |
