SHEDRICK "TED" FLETCHER was born November 16, 1918, in Royalton, KY, died April 2, 1981 at the Highland Regional Hospital, Prestonsburg, KY. Buried in the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Staffordville, KY. His Parents were Fred & Burnie (Bailey) Fletcher. Grandparents: Paternal, George Washington Fletcher & Sarah Jane Bailey. Maternal: Grandville Pearl Bailey & Sarah (Sally) Prater. He married Alene Marshall, daughter of David & Ann Marshall, on August 12,1940. They had one daughter Shirley Ann. Alene died while he was in service. April 20, 1946 he married Mae Bailey, daughter of Roy & Betty (Rowe) Bailey. Three children graced this union, Linda Mae, Michael Thomas & Martha Kay. Entered the Navy, August 11, 1943, was Honorably discharged January 11, 1946. His rank was “Motor Machinist’s Mate, Third Class, USNR. Served in the Asiatic Theater of War for 15 months. Has 1 Battle Star, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign bars, and World War II Victory Medal. He was stationed at Great Lakes, IL, Norfolk, VA, & Richmond, VA. He was on the ship USS Haines (APD 84).
