Coal Miner's Dedication Page Forty

Coal Miner’s Carbide Flask
This flask was used to carry extra Carbide. The miners would carry this on their belts.
The carbide lamp and flask belonged to my grandpa, Elmer Presley. He gave these to my mom, Helen Presley Jones, before he passed away. The writing on the top of the lamp reads “Auto Lite Universal Lamp Co.” and on the bottom it has “Made in the USA, Universal Lamp Co., Springfield, IL”. The flask has “Just Right” trademark on it. From looking at various articles and pictures on the internet, we are estimating that the carbide cap lamp was made around 1913.
