My Great Grandfather was trying to get the Unions in the Mines. One night after a Union meeting he was ambused and killed when my Grandmother was ten years old. His killer(s) were never caught. My Grandmother had to go door to door to beg for food because they were left so destitute. She then started working in a laundry to help feed the family. My Great Grandmother took in washing and did ironing to help make ends meet. The other children were too young to work. For years I have been searching for any information into the death/ambush of my Great Grandfather listed above. If you find any information on his death or place of death in your searches, please email me. He worked for the Stony Fork Coal Company, Ralston, Bell County Kentucky. The mines Operated from 1906-1915 and had 120 employees. Also the Stony Fork Coal Company, Stony Fork, Bell County, Kentucky and operated from 1908-1913 and had 30 employees.
