My Grandfather, Reverend BENJAMIN "HARRISON" MOSES, son of ELIAS MOSES and NANCY ANDERSON was born 27 September 1890 in Whitley County, Kentucky. He married MARY HEATWOLE before 1913. He was a Preacher at the Church of God and pastored the Church of God of the Mountain Assemby in Kenvir, Harlan County, Kentucky from 1930-1937. He was killed in a cave in the Coal Mines 11 February 1939 in Harlan County, Kentucky. He was very active in unionizing the mines. There were many threats made on his life, dynamite left under his house and a couple of times he was shot at by snipers hiding up on the mountain. He also went to Washington DC to testify before the Lafollette Committee about the violence against the union in Harlan County.
