              JAMES THEOPHILUS LEWIS Jr. (His father was James Theophilus LEWIS Sr. who fought in the Revolutionary War) was born 09 August 1771 in Ashe County, North Carolina, and died 1860 in Leslie County, Kentucky. He married SARAH COUCH Bef. 1799 in Perry County, Kentucky, daughter of JOHN COUCH and MARY BOONE. She was born 1773 in North Carolina, and died 1864 in Kentucky. Reportedly was in what is now Perry County, KY in 1808. James Fought in the War of 1812 in the Ohio battle of Thames. He was with Captain Hobbs at the killing of Benge, the half-breed Indian.
