JOHN CALVIN NOE III son of PETER NOE and REBECCA UNKNOWN was born 1745 in Virginia, and died 16 February 1816 in Lee County, Virginia. He married ELIZABETH PATRICIA PATRICK Bef. 1760, daughter of HUGH PATRICK and ELIZABETH UNKNOWN. She was born 1727 in Virginia, and died 1817 in Lee County, Virginia. John C. Noe III was a Private in the War of 1812. He enlisted August 2, 1812 and served until February 5, 1814. He served in Capt. James N. Barker's Company, 2nd U.S. Artillery. Bounty land warrant application, 25 November 1850. Land warrant #10,268-1160-50 for 160 acres. John gave his age as 57. Amended Declaration of John Noe for Bounty Land: State of Kentucky, County of Harlan - On this eighteenth day of September A.D. 1851, personally appeared before me a Justice of the Peace within and for the County and State aforesaid, John Noe age 58 years, a resident of Harlan County in the State of Kentucky, who being duly sworn according to law declares that he is the identical John Noe set forth in a Declaration now on file in the Pension Office of the United States. That he makes this as an amended declaration to his original on file in said office, that he enlisted , served and was discharged and kept it until about the year 1844. That he had not drawn his three months extra pay, to which he was entitled by act of Congress, for having served out the time for which he enlisted faithfully, that for the purpose of enabling him to draw his three months extra pay as aforesaid in about the year 1844, he sent his certificate of discharge to the Honorable John White who was than a member of Congress from this District. That the Said John White got and sent to him his three months extra pay but never returned the certificate of discharge. He states that shortly after he received his extra pay that said White died. He states that he does not know whether his discharge was on file in the office from whence he received his extra pay or amongst the papers of the Hon. John White. He refers to the muster rolls of the company set forth in his original declaration. He makes this amended declaration for the purpose of obtaining the bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have ben engaged in the military service of the United States passed September 28, 1850.
