Maxine writes (p. 200), "He was a prisoner of the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He was so starved that he only lived a short time after he got home." The Cleveland Genealogy states that he died in a military hospital on the way home. FamilySearch.org says that he died in Libbey Prison (Richmond, VA).
Cleveland Genealogy (p. 1691) says “enlisted at Norwich, N.Y., Jan. 1, 1864, 6th N.Y. Heavy Art.”
