On the 1900 federal census (roll 928, book 1, page 140a), William and Auguste are living in Clatonia in Gage County, Nebraska. William was born July 1862, Auguste August 1860. They have been married 14 years. Auguste is the mother of seven children, seven living: Charles (Feb 1887), Louisa (Jan 1889), Minnie (Nov 1890), William (Dec 1892), Herman (Jun 1895), Amelia (May 1897), August (Jul 1899). The Titkemeiers own a farm. William and Auguste are listed as naturalized citizens, having arrived 17 years ago in 1882.

On the 1910 federal census (roll 847, book 4, page 35b) the family is living in Antelope Township, Harlan County. Auguste is now the mother of ten children, nine living. New children are Augusta (born about 1902) and Frieda (born about 1904).

On the 1920 federal census (roll 992, book 2, page 26a), the three youngest children are the only ones still at home, and the year of William and Auguste’s naturalization is given as 1887.
