James and Mary McCormick and their family probably attended this church. James and two of their sons are buried in the cemetery. This is the third St. Basil's Church to be built at the site. The first, a log chapel, was built about 1836. The second, a frame structure, was built in 1859. This church was too small to hold the growing congregation, however, so building of the present stone church was begun in October 1868. It took nearly three years to build. (For more information on St. Basil's Church, see St. Basil's, Dushore, PA During 100 Years (1838-1938).)
