MESSAGE FROM CAROL:
Seems I always start the same way with how busy it has been but it has been the same since our last news letter.
We haven't received very much mail so believe it is true with all of you also. ISABEL has been busy on the telephone and with letters, and between her and I, we will soon own a piece of Bell Telephone Co.
As you will note above, KAY JAMES our treasurer and genealogist has moved. (See address above) She ran out of room for all her note books, files, etc and they had to get a bigger place.
If any of you are doing research during your vacation, we hope you will pass along any new information you find. Also if you are in this area, please let us know that we might make plans to visit with you.
We INVITE you to make plans to attend the reunion at Center, MO on September 6 (details on back page) and will help you arrange motel reservations, travel to the reunion and anything else we can help you with. We hope to have our attendance back up again this year as it was down last year.
SEE YOU IN CENTER MO. SEPT. 6, 1981

ROBERT E. KRIGBAUM (Second Townsman) is a native Syracusan. He is a professional clown (Kriggs). He received an A.A.S. degree in Drama from Onondaga Community College. Some of his activities include working on main stage productions and children's theatre. He teaches mime. He is a member of International Mimes & Pantomimist, Clowns of America, and the Onondaga Hill Players. Ice hockey is yet another hobby of Mr. KRIGBAUM.
THOMAS McGINNIS's secretary Peggy Kimbrough saw the above play in New York and gave the article to TOM. We thought perhaps some of you would be interested in the article. Also, it was interesting to note that stage director was Patricia Ann SPEELMAN.

The following deed was painstakingly copied by EMERY CREEKBAUM from photo stat of the original transfer of deed. It took over three day's to decipher spellings some of which I still am not sure I have them right, such as Perclies, a form of measurement. I can find no such word in our dictionary today.
Noted by Nelson Sulouff: the word deciphered above and many times below as "Perclies" should be spelled "Perches."
Some words were unreadable so I indicated this with a blank, some times only two letters of a word was readable so I put them down to indicate part of a word. Mr. SHIPLEY was PHILIP's Brother in law. At this time I do not know her first name. After PHILIP got out of the Rev. War, he alway's spelled his last name CREEKBAUM so the scribe writing this document started to spell his name CREEK then she or he crossed it out and spelled it CREAGHBAUM to match the spelling of his last father ADAM's spelling, as they were transferring his father's property. Periods and commas were left out at times so at times this document seems to ramble. Here's hoping that you will enjoy this most valuable old document, which is a great asset to the never ending search of our Roots.
At the request of RICHARD SHIPLEY was this following deed recorded April 3, 1784

------------------------- EXCERPT FROM AKRON, OHIO NEWSPAPER--------------------
Mark DeChellis, president of NO. Canton Heritage Society announced today that a $200,000 fund drive is scheduled March 10 - 28 to set up a historical museum, library and community meeting rooms on a block west of the city square. The funds will be used to buy two houses and a pioneer cabin and to rebuild an old schoolhouse. The homes are at 408 and 414 W. Maple St. in a block bounded by West Maple, Hillcrest, Harmon and Royer Streets. The old Roush School will be rebuilt on the Harmon Street side of the block, DeChellis said. The brick oneroom school was dismantled from its site on Portage Street Northwest in Jackson Township and has been stored while the society looked for a site to rebuild it, he said. The brick home at 408 W. Maple built in 1911 by Mr. & Mrs. FRED KREIGHBAUM, parents of ROBERT KREIGHBAUM, the present owner. The KREIGHBAUM family came to the North Canton and Greentown areas in 1814. JOHANNES WILHELM KREIGHBAUM built the original log church at Zion Cemetery, now North Canton Cemetery, on Pittsburg Road Northwest, DeChellis said. He is the first Revolutionary War veteran buried in the cemetery. The frame home at 414 W. Maple was built by the Roush family in 1918 and will continue to be rented until more space is needed, DeChellis said. Plans call for connecting the two houses to provide more meeting and display space, he said. The pioneer cabin, built in 1925 as a playhouse, and the school will be available fpr community meetings and will house historical displays, DeChellis said. The society was incorporated in 1972 and moved into the Main Street house in 1973.
