HELLO AGAIN FOR THE APRIL ISSUE OF THE KRIEGBAUM HERITAGE
Mrs. Malone, our president was unable to get the president's message to us at this time and as we have set ourselves a rigid schedule in order to have the newsletter out as close to the first of each publication date as possible, we are going ahead without it. The newsletter will be typed on the 25th of June and September, so if you have any data for any issue, please send it by the 25th of those months. KAY JAMES and I have been very busy since the January issue of THE HERITAGE and we love it. We have heard from a number of you and have sent out letters, photocopies of our information, family sheets and a number of back issues of THE KRIEGBAUM HERITAGE as well as telephone calls to Kansas to our president, Mrs. MALONE and to Ohio to the Vice President, Mrs. HAZEL MILLER. We have also read all of 1790, 1800, 1810 Pennsylvania census and have in our possession copies of at least 3/4 of the Ohio census that we read. (1850). We feel that the link missing is in Pa. & Ohio and we are concentrating on these areas now. If there is anyone of you who have access to any Pennsylvania court records or church records and would be willing to help us, please write and we will tell you what we really need to know and where you might find it.

THANK YOU!

We wish to thank all of you who have renewed your membership and to welcome the new members. I will not list the renewals but will list the new ones. They are:
Marvin Gordon SEYFFERT - Kansas City, Mo.
Linda SONNENMOSER - Kansas City, Mo.
Gary W. COATES - Portland, Oregon
Mrs. Luella GOFF - Edwardsburg, Mich.
Mrs. Margaret SEEBOLD - Mifflinburg, Pa.
The Warren WALKERS - Monmouth, IL.

WE NEED CHURCH RECORDS OR COURT RECORDS OF BERKS CO. OR MONTGOMERY CO, PENNSYLVANIA.

HELP
Does anyone know of the existence of a book, "HISTORY OF THE KREIGHBAUM FAMILY" by Thomas Goldthwaite in 1899. E7 G583? Mr. MAX SNIFFEN of Woodville, Texas made a note of this book but we have not been able to locate a copy of it.

If I could manage to be born again as a genealogy buff you can bet I'd do things different. For openers, I would relocate my ancestors to an English speaking land, then liberally sprinkle my pedigree with people of fame, power, or wealth, making them easy to research. But since I cannot seem to rearrange the circumstances of my birth, I am grateful that most of my line is German. My husband's line is mostly English. Our last name of JAMES causes me a lot more trouble than my maiden name of KRIGBAUM. For example, our name should be JANES, originally spelled JEANES. So I look under James, Jeanes, Janes, Johns, Jones, Janis, etc. As you can see all you have to do is look at the name JONES and see the problem.

CRAIG ASHURST married SARAH CRAVENS 26 Jan 1826. Bondsman were JACOB ASHURST and JACOB KRIGBAUM.

The above concerned JACOB KRIGBAUM, now I want to discuss PETER KRIGBAUM of Allegany Co. Maryland.

I have located two of CONRAD's daughters in Muskigum Co., Ohio. DAVID DUTRO and MARY MOLLY KRICHBAUM were married in Allegany Co. Md 26 March 1797. DAVID DUTRO left a will in Muskigum Co. Ohio dated 3 July 1832 in which he names his children and his wife.

MARY CATHERINE DUTRO and GEORGE DUTRO were married 01 January 1782 in Frederick Co. Md. GEORGE DUTRO left a will in Muskigum Co. Ohio dated 15 July 1827. From this will the following is taken:
"To James Seright and Ruth Seright his wife, I give and bequeath a half quarter section of land laying in what is called Duncan Run and being half of the land ______that I Purchased of PETER CRIGBAUM. I am certaint hat this PETER is the the brother of MARY CATHERINE DUTRO , GEORGE's wife.

PETER KRIGBAUM married MARY McBRIDE 25 November 1797 in Allegany Co. Md. I have been unable to locate a will for this PETER . This PETER definitely has Ohio connections.

Below are the census records in Allegany Co. Md. for PHILIP KREIGHBAUM and CONRAD KREIGHBAUM I have no other information on these two at this time. In the 1850 Census of Allegany Co. Md is listed Henry Krigbaum. This Henry left a will in Muskigum Co. Ohio. Anyone having any information regarding this PETER , please contact me.

Page 6

The following information has been researched by your genealogist, KAY JAMES, but she needs your help. I am sure that there are a lot of you out there who have in your possession a lot of information that you can't connect up with anything. PLEASE, if you do have something that might help please forward the information on to me. All of the information I have cannot possibly be put in one issue of "THE KRIEGBAUM HERITAGE". I now have in my possession over 1,500 sheets of KRIGBAUM descendants, but there is a lot of items missing on these sheets. Please do write and lets see what we can come up with by working together. There is a KRIGBAUM descendant in every single state, but this issue will be concerned with the states of Maryland, Kentucky, and Ohio.
In the April 1976 issue of "THE KRIEGBAUM HERITAGE" we printed the will of CONRAD CREIGHBAUM of Allegany Co. Maryland. This will was written 02 May 1805. In the will he names his children: Sons: JACOB, PETER, PHILIP, and MICHAEL. Daughters: MOLLY DUTROW, CATHERINE DUTROW, ELIZABETH SPIELMAN. He also names his grandchildren: DAVID, HENRY & HANNAH NEFF. I have been able to trace his son JACOB (which is my ancestor) from Frederick Co. Md., where he stayed until around 1798 - 1800. From there JACOB went to Jessamine Co. Ky. where he resided until about 1827, at which time he moved into Ralls Co. Mo. where many of his descendants are still living.
I am looking for descendants of MICHAEL CREIGHBAUM. MICHAEL left Frederick Co. Md. with his brother JACOB and went to Kentucky. MICHAEL married POLLY CARROLL while in Jessamine Co. Ky. He is listed in the 1810 Greenup Co. Ky. census with 2 male children ages 10-16. He is listed as MICHAEL CREEKPON. In the 1820 Census of Kentucky there are two Krigbaum families listed. There is a JOHN CREEKBAUM in Mason Co. Ky. and JACOB KRIGBAUM in Jessamine Co. Ky. I have proof that the JOHN in Mason Co. is the son of JACOB listed in Jessamine Co. Ky. Where is MICHAEL? The male 26 - 45 must be JOHN. The female 26-45 must be SARAH ORGAN, his wife. The 2 males under 10 must be SARAH & JOHN's children. Who is the male 16 - 18 and who is the male 45 and over? Could it be MICHAEL and one of his sons? Anyone having any information on MICHAEL KRIGBAUM please contact KAY JAMES, address above.

Following are the 1800, 1810, and 1820 census records of Kentucky. Also included are Jessamine Co. Ky. records concerning KRIGBAUMs.

LETTER:
10636 S.E. Malita Drive
Portland Ore. 97236
March 1979

Dear Mrs. KRIGBAUM, , At last, maybe, I have found a break in my family genealogy. My mother was a KRIGBAUM, her father CONRAD KRIGBAUM was born 18 Jan. 1862 in Beverly, Ohio. His father was ANDREW JACKSON KRIGBAUM born 15 March 1827, in Maryland. Other children of this family were CONRAD born 1828 in Maryland, (He had a large family and remained in Ohio). MARIN KRIGBAUM born 1833 in Ohio and JAMES BIRD KRIGBAUM born 1840 in Maryland. The father of this family was WILLIAM KRIGBAUM born ca. 1802 in Maryland. His wife was BARBARY (BIRD?) born ca. 1802 in Virginia. They can all be located on the 1850 census in Ohio in Morgan and Washington counties. I have been able to locate a CRICKBAUM, CONRAD as head of household on the 1790 census for Maryland and two land transactions for KREIGHBAUM, ( CRICKPAUM ) CONRAD, dating 1775 and 1796 in Frederick Co. Md. but I have not found the link between the Ohio and Maryland families. Can you be of any help with this missing link? I have found all the following spellings KRIGBAUM, KRIGBAUMM, KREIGHBAUM, and CRICKPAUM, but my grandfather always said that KRIGBAUM was correct and any other spelling just wasn't related to him. Anything you might wish to share with me would be greatly appreciated and if you desire information about the KRIGBAUM families that are here in Oregon, I'll be happy to provide what I can find. Before I subscribe to your publication The Krigbaum Heritage, would you tell me a little more about it, and how it might contribute to my genealogical research. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Gary W. Coats
