More research needs to be done on this family. The records for Pommern showed five members of the Schelbartz family living there. The FHL film # is FHL #1859352. The name was spelled Schelbarz, Shelbarz, Shelbarts, and Shelbartz. There are records for Krantzen in Koblenz, where Anna Krantzen married Joannes Boetz in July of 1684 #0585887.

(I have no records for a Stephen Conradts or Christina Arens.) On Sept. 25, 1692, she was a Godmother for Sevatius Deutsch, the son of Peter Deutsch and Anna Elisabetha Thelen. She married Joannes Heinrich SEITHEN between 1660 and 1673. She died on 18 June 1697 in Treis at age 61. JOANNES HEINRICH SEITHEN was born between 1630 and 1635. From 1687-1696 he was a Schoffe. NOTE: The name was recorded as Seiten and Seithen. He died on 26 April 1696 in Treis.

The four known children of Christina SCHELBARTZ and Joannes Heinrich SEITHEN were:

• 32. i. CARL SEITHEN was born between 1670 and 1675. He married Anna Maria MARCI on 27 November 1696 in Karden, Cochem. They were living in Karden in 1700. Carl was a Godfather for Carl Seithen on October 24, 1700 and the priest recorded that he was from Karden.

31. GERTRUDE SCHELBARTZ (George) was born before 1655. No records were found to prove these were her parents. I placed her in this family because her mother's name would have been Gerturde and because of the Godparent relationships. There was no other Gertrude Schelbartz that fit. She married Matthias TRESTER, son of Carl TRESTER and Anna Maria, before 1677. She died on 27 February 1718 in Treis; "plena dierum.". MATTHIAS TRESTER was born between 1640 and 1655 in the Mosel River area. He died on 1 September 1717 in Treis.

33. SYBILLIA SEITHEN (Christina SCHELBARTZ ) was baptized on 8 December 1674 in St. Johannes. On Sept. 28, 1697, she was a Godmother for Johanna Sybilla, the daughter of Joes Bartholomus Seithen and Catharina Gertrud Sturm. She married Joannes PREYS/Preuss, son of Matthias PREUS, in 1696. She died on 28 March 1715 in Treis at age 40. The Christening record of her daughter, Anna, has an X by Sybillia's name. Sybillia had an infant on 22 March 1715. She probably died from childbirth as the infant died the same day.

JOANNES PREYS/PREUSS was born circa 1666 in Hatzenport. They name was also recorded as Preis, Preiss and Preus. He married Gertrude BOOS on 2 July 1715 in St. Johannes. He died on 15 November 1718 in Treis.

The eight known children of Sybillia SEITHEN and Joannes PREYS/Preuss were:

• 54. i. ANNA MARIA PREYS was baptized on 12 May 1697 in St. Johannes, Treis. Her Godparents were Joannes Muller of Hatzenport, a molitor, (miller) and Anna Maria Marx, wife of Caroli Seiten, citizens of Cardon. She died on 5 January 1706 in Treis at age 8. Her Baptism record shows 'obit'. January 5, 1706.

• 55. ii. JOANNES PREYS was baptized on 29 March 1699 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Joannes Simonis and Catharina Gertrude Sturms, wife of Jois Bartholmus Seithen. He was a molitor bezw. molitor gratiosi Domini de Waldeck. He married Maria Luzia CASTOR, daughter of Joannes Adolph CASTOR and Catharina LIES, on 27 April 1717 in Treis. He died on 6 August 1763 in Treis at age 64.

• 56. iii. CATHARINA PREYS was baptized on 26 March 1701 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Petrus Graef and Catharina Lies, wife of Jois Adolphus Castor. She died on 21 January 1706 in Treis at age 4.

• 57. iv. ANNA PREYS was baptized on 28 August 1704 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Anna Preys, wife of Joannes Theodore Putz, and Joannes Barthomew Deutsch, Vikar Wtift in Karden. She died on 19 January 1706 in Treis at age 1.

He married Catharina Gertrude STURM, daughter of Joannes Jacob STURM and Euhalia SCHUH, on 18 June 1697 in St. Johannes. He married Catharina MAGI, daughter of Joannes MAGI and Anna Margaret HENRICH, on 28 April 1711 in St. Johannes. He died on 3 April 1744 in Treis. Note: Elisabeth Seithen, daughter of Joannes and Agnes, was born in Liegh, and Baptized on the 27th of July, 1700. Her Godparents were Elisabeth (?) of Beuren, and Servatius (?). of Leigh. He was a Godfather for Catharina, daughter of Jacob Goebels and Maria Margaretha Beurens. He was a schoffe on 24 March 1731 in Treis. CATHARINA GERTRUDE STURM was born between 1668 and 1674. Catharina was a Godmother on May 8, 1694 for Catharina Gertrud Schaben, the daughter of Joannes Schaben and her sister, Anna Christina Sturm. She was a Godmother on March 29, 1699 for Joannes Preys (Preus), the son of Joannes Preus and Sybillia Seithen. (Sybillia was her sister-in-law.) She was a Godmother on Sept. 22, 1707 for Peter Simonis, the son of Joannes Simonis and Catharina Schelbartz. She was a Godmother on March 20, 1720 for Joannes Preys, the son of Joannes Preus and Maria Luzia Castor. She was a Godmother on Nov. 19, 1725 for Catharina Gertrude Schmitz, the daughter of Wilhelm Agidius Schmitz and Johanna Sybillia Seithen.

The five known children of Joannes Bartholmew SEITHEN and Catharina Gertrude STURM all born in Treis were:

She married Carl DERFELD, son of Joannes DERFELD and Eva HINNEN, on 23 February 1751 in St. Johannes. She died on 4 May 1756 in Treis at age 37.

JOANNES SIMONIS was born before 1670. was a schaled from 1697-1727 Synodale 1707-1736 / Schoffe 1781. He died on 4 April 1736 in Treis.

She died on 13 May 1731 in Treis at age 33.

• 79. ii. MATTHIAS SIMONIS was baptized on 3 February 1702 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Matthias Pullich and Magdalena Schellbart of Pomeren. Matthias was a Godfather on Feb. 18, 1720 for Matthias Castor, the son of Henricus Castor and his sister, Anna Catharina SImonis. He died on 25 September 1725 in Treis at age 23.

• 86. ix. PETER SIMONIS was baptized on 18 July 1713 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Petrus Deutsch, citizen of Seabing, and the wife of Joannes Barthomeri Seithen. He married Maria Anna Josepha HURTER, daughter of Anton HURTER and Anna Maria FUCHS, before 1737. He married Susanna BERTGEN on 24 November 1750 in Treis. He died on 16 October 1751 in Treis at age 38.

38. CHRISTINA SCHELBARTZ (Theodore George ) was baptized on 21 January 1674 in Pommern, Cochem, Rhineland. She was a Godmother for Christina Muller, the daughter of Anton Muller and Barbara Laus. The record refers to her as Christina, wife of Nicolaus Laus. She was a Godmother on June 20, 1717 for Christina Arens, the daughter of Peter Arens and Maria Margaretha Dederichs. She married Nikolaus LAUS, son of Andreas LAUS and Anna Katharina (-?-), on 6 September 1696 in St. Johannes, Treis. The marriage record shows she was from Pommern. She died on 3 March 1726 in Treis at age 52. NIKOLAUS LAUS was baptized on 31 March 1669 in St. Johannes. The birth date is from his obituary record. Nikolaus was a Godfather on Sept. 23, 1691 for Anna Maria Lies, the daughter of Sebastian Lies and Anna Maria Laus. He was a Godfather on Aug. 24, 1702 for Margaretha Laus, the daughter of Joannes Anton Laus and Anna Catharina (Clara). He died on 12 January 1717 in Treis at age 47. He was a consul in 1703. The death record for his son shows the family was from Pommern.

• 88. ii. JOANNES ANTON LAUS was born on 17 May 1701 in Lutz, Cochem, Rhineland. He was baptized on 19 May 1701 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Joes Antonius Schelbarts and virgin Catharina Laus. The record shows he was born in Lutz. He married Anna Catharina EMSBACH, daughter of Michaelis EMSBACH, on 27 May 1727 in St. Johannes. He died on 7 February 1760 in Treis at age 58.

• 89. iii. ANNA LAUS was baptized on 12 February 1703 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Sebastioni Lies &. Anna, wife of Joes Schulties. There is an X on the Baptism record. The death record gives her date of birth as 12 Feb 1703. She died on 26 January 1706 at age 2.

• 90. iv. MICHAEL LAUS was baptized on 27 August 1705 in Treis. He was a twin. His Godparents were Michael Muntenich, and Anna Maria, daughter of Carl Muller. He died on 5 October 1705 in Treis.

• 91. v. PETER LAUS was baptized on 27 August 1705 in St. Johannes. He was a twin. His Godparents were Peter Arens, sutor, and Katharina Tresser, virgin. He died on 20 September 1705.

• 92. vi. CARL LAUS was baptized on 18 March 1708 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Carolus Ningoll & Barbara Laus. Carl was a Godfather on June 26, 1729 for Anna Maria Lies, the daughter of Joannes Lies and Margaretha Simonis. He married Anna Catharina BLESER, daughter of Gerhard BLESER and Maria Margaretha CASTOR, on 27 February 1729 in St. Johannes. The witnesses at their marriage were Nicolai Merkel and Carl Trabin. He died on 8 July 1754 in Treis at age 46.

44. JOANNES ANTON SCHELBARTZ (Peter George ) was born on 10 October 1677 in Pommern. Joannes was a Godfather on May 19, 1701 for Anton Laus, son of Nikolaus Laus and Christina Schelbartz. He married Gertrude BOOS on 16 November 1706 in Pommern.

MARIA MARGARETHA DEUTSCH was baptized on 8 May 1687 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Maria Margreta, daughter of Cunonis Valwig and Joannes Ludevicus Picart.

He married Maria Magdalena SPIES, daughter of Joannes Peter SPIES, before 1741. He married Anna Maria BIRCKENHAUER circa 1757. He died on 2 April 1789 in Treis at age 72.

• 116. iii. JOANNES ADAM MUELLER was baptized on 21 September 1714 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Joannes Adam Tresser, adolesant, and Gertrude Tresser, virgin. He died on 23 February 1717 in Treis at age 2.

• 117. iv. ANNA MARIA MUELLER was baptized on 23 February 1717 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Joannes Derfeldt and Anna Maria, daughter of Joannes Adam Priqort. She married Peter HENRICI, son of Joannes HENRICI and Eva FUHRMANN, on 18 September 1742 in St. Johannes. The marriage record did not show the names of their parents.

50. CHRISTIAN TRESTER (Gertrude SCHELBARTZ, George ) was baptized on 5 April 1687 in St. Johannes, Treis. His Godparents were Christian Tresser, lehrer in Treis, and Anna Maria, daughter of Nicolaus Trester. He was a schilbarz (sailor). (I do not have either of these in my database.) Christian was a Godfather on Dec. 29, 1720 for Christian Trester, the son of Joannes Trester and Maria Balles. He was a Godfather on April 5, 1726 for Christian Senger, the son of Joannes Matthias Senger and Anna Maria Fritz. He was a Godfather on June 19, 1745 for Peter Bertgen, the son of Joannes Bertgen and Anna Maria Trester.

He married Anna Maria COMES, daughter of Jonas COMES, on 16 August 1712 in St. Johannes. He died on 22 February 1765 in Treis at age 77. ANNA MARIA COMES was born before 1700 in Loft, Cochem. Nicolaus Comes of Loft, was a Godfather for her son Nicolaus. He was probably her brother.

The six known children of Christian TRESTER and Anna Maria COMES were:

• 118. i. ANNA MARIA TRESTER was baptized on 1 August 1713 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Martin Tresser and Anna Maria, daughter of Peter Valwig.

• 119. ii. NICOLAUS TRESTER was baptized on 16 June 1715 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Nicolaus Comes, adolesant, and Catharina, wife Anton Muller. He died on 8 September 1716 at age 1.

• 120. iii. GERTRUD TRESTER was baptized on 6 October 1717 in Treis. Her Godparents were Joannes Tresser, adolesant, and Gertrude, daughter of Matthias Tresser.

• 121. iv. JOANNES PETER TRESTER was baptized on 3 March 1720 in St. Johannes. He married Apollonia CASTOR, daughter of Henrici CASTOR and Anna Catharina SIMONIS, on 29 June 1750 in St. Johannes, Treis. The witnesses at their marriage were Jacob Trester, Carl Castor and Carl Casper. He died on 9 February 1776 in Treis at age 55.

• 122. v. MARIA CATHARINA TRESTER was baptized on 15 January 1722 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Nicolas Tresser, adol, and Anna Maria, daughter of Heinrich Tresser. She died in March 1726 in Treis at age 4. The death record shows her date of birth.

• 123. vi. MARIA CATHARINA TRESTER was baptized on 5 June 1727 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Carolus Greys, son of Herman ex Pommeren, and Maria Catharina, daughter of (?).

51. GERTRUDE TRESTER (Gertrude SCHELBARTZ, George ) was baptized on 8 January 1690 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Gertrude Nidecken and Joannes Adam Traser. Gertrude was a Godmother on Feb. 24, 1713 for Oswald Mueller, the son of her sister, Catharina, and Anton Mueller. She was a Godmother on Oct. 6, 1717 for Gertrude Trester, daughter of Christian Trester and Anna Maria Comes. She married Carl GREIS, son of Gottfreid Herman GREIS and Anna Margaret CASTOR, on 22 September 1718 in St. Johannes, Treis. The dates of birth were shown on the marriage record. It also showed the name of his father. She died on 30 March 1760 in Treis at age 70. CARL GREIS was baptized on 14 April 1689 in St. Joannes, Treis. His Godparents were Carl Hirschen of Poltersdorf, and Barbara Greis of Lieg. (Barbara was probably his father's sister, and the family was probably from Lieg.) The date of birth is shown on the marriage record. He is referred to as Carl Greys, son of Herman of Pommern in a Baptism record. He was a Godfather for Maria Katharina Tresser, daughter of Christian Tresser and Anna Maria Comes. Christian was his brother-in-law on 5 June 1727 in St. Johannes. He died on 30 April 1795 in Treis at age 106.

The three known children of Gertrude TRESTER and Carl GREIS were:

• 124. i. CHRISTIAN GREIS was baptized on 9 September 1721 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Christian Tresser, nauta, and Anna, (Schmitz) wife of Joannes Greys. Christian was a Godfather on Dec. 20, 1739 for Anna Maria Schuster, the daughter of Cosman Schuster and Anna Christina Schmitz. He was a Godfather on Jan. 14, 1747 for Maria Catharina Bertgen, the daughter of Joannes Bertrgen and Anna Maria Trester. He was a Godfather on Aug. 23, 1748 for Anna Maria Trester, the daughter of Martin Trester and Clara Bindlers. He married Anna Maria ARENS, daughter of Joannes ARENS and Anna Maria KERICHER, on 14 May 1748 in St. Johannes. He died on 12 December 1765 in Treis at age 44.

• 125. ii. JOANNES GREIS was baptized on 16 November 1725 in Treis. His Godparents were Joannes Tresser and Ursula Greys.

• 126. iii. CATHARINA GERTRUDE GREIS was baptized on 14 November 1734 in Treis. Her Godparents were Catharina Gertrud Greiss and Martin Tresser.

53. JOANNES TRESTER (Gertrude SCHELBARTZ, George ) was baptized on 9 July 1697 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Joannes Kericher, adolesant, and Catharina (?). He married Catharina FUCHS, daughter of Joannes FUCHS and Anna Maria REMMEL, on 24 August 1728 in St. Johannes, Treis.

CATHARINA FUCHS was baptized on 29 July 1698 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Catharina Fuchs, wife of Matthias Kaufmann and Wolfgang Remmelin. She was a Godmother on Aug. 22, 1725 for Anna Catharina Muntnich, the daughter of Joannes Muntnich and Anna Christina Fuchs. She married Matthias STUMP, son of Peter STUMP, on 13 February 1725 in St. Johannes.

The five known children of Joannes TRESTER and Catharina FUCHS were:

• 127. i. KATHARINA GERTRUD TRESTER was baptized on 31 May 1729 in St. Johannes, Treis. Her Godparents were Katharina Gertrude, wife of Carl Tresser, and Joannes Muntenich. She married Christian SENGER, son of Joannes Matthias SENGER and Anna Maria FRITZ, on 20 February 1759 in Treis. The witnesses at their marriage were Joannes Stumpff and Matthias Senger. She married Joannes RITTER on 17 February 1767. The witnesses at their marriage were Joannes Stumpff and Matthias Senger. She died on 18 April 1810 in Treis at age 80.

• 128. ii. ANNA MARIA TRESTER was baptized on 5 July 1731 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Anna Maria Trester, virgin, and adolesant, Balthasar Deutsch, son of Adolph. She died on 7 January 1807 in Treis at age 75.

• 129. iii. ANNA MARIA TRESTER was baptized on 7 August 1733 in St. Johannes. Her Godparents were Anna Maria, wife of Anton Hirtre, and Franz George Sturm.

• 130. iv. JOANNES WILHELM TRESTER was baptized on 10 August 1736 in St. Johannes. His Godparents were Joannes Wilhelm Meurer of Lahnstein, fur ihn Joannes Duetsch, and Catharina, daughter of Peter Peters. He married Anna Elisabetha BEUREN, daughter of Jacob BEUREN and Catharina STEFFES, on 22 February 1761 in St. Johannes. The witnesses at their marriage were Joannes Stumph and Joannes Steffes. He married Thecla THEISEN, daughter of Joannes THEISEN, on 8 February 1785 in St. Johannes. The witnesses at their marriage were Joannes Stumph and Joannes Steffes. The marriage record showed she was from Demmerath. He died on 17 May 1798 in Treis at age 61.

• 131. v. JOANNES ADOLPH TRESTER was baptized on 6 August 1739 in St. Johannes. His godparents were Joannes Brock adol. and Gertrude Gobel.

There were more Schelbartz family members that appear in the records later, but I have not been able to connect them.
