W I L L


I, Julia Batt, of lawful age and of sound mind and memory, being well advanced in years and knowing that life for me must be short, do hereby make and publish this my last will and testament.
I

I desire that the expenses of my last sickness and funeral, doctor bills, if any, be paid out of the monies and property owned by me at my death.
II

I desire $25.00 to be used for masses and I direct that said sum be expended for that purpose under the direction of my executor hereinunder appointed.
III

I desire that my name and suitable memmorandum be made on the tombstone, erected for my husband and myself, and that I be buried beside my said husband.
IV

After the payment of the amounts herein above specified, I direct that the rest and residue of my property of every name and nature be divided equally among my children, including herein, my step daughter Mary Batt as if she were my own child and the child of my other step daughter Katherine Biderman, as if said Katherine were my own child, and in the event that any of said children or said step children should die, the share of said child or children is to go to his or her personal representatives. And the representatives of my deceased daughter Caroline Hammersmith, are to have the share which would have belonged to said Caroline had she been living at the time of my death.
I hereby nominate George X. Herman to be executor of this my last will.
In witness whereof, the said Julia Batt has here unto set her hand at Defiance, Defiance County, Ohio, this 7th day of July, A.D. 1913.

MEMMORANDUM

The said Julia Batt has called the undersigned, Henry B. Harris and Tellis T. Shaw to be witnesses of this her last will and testament and acknowledged the same to be her said will in their presence, and asked them to be witnesses to her signature thereto, which they do, subscribing the same as such witnesses in her presence and in the presence of each other, the day and year herein last mentioned.
