Columns listed below are Passengers Names [given name then surname], Age, Sex, Occupation, Country to Which they belong, Where they intend to Inhabitant. The manifest was not on a printed form and the list maker hand labeled the columns. The column "Died" has also been eliminated as there were no deaths reported. See additional notes below about missing pages.

General Notes:

An attempt has been made to keep this transcription as historically
accurate as possible. Any changes are explained in these notes.
Ditto marks and the letters "do" were used to indicate the same
thing as the previous line. In those cases, the word these
   marks represent is written out.

At least the first page of the manifest of the Schooner Leo, as it
appears on NARA Film M575, Reel 3, is missing. [See additional notes
below.] The top of the only page with Leo passengers reads: "Schooner
Leo, Gardes from Bremen - Continued". From the "Recapitulation of
Passengers for the Second Quarter of 1846", NARA Film 575, Reel 3, the
   following information has been extracted:

Date of arrival: 25 June 1846
   Vessel Name: Schooner Leo
   Master: Gardes
   From: Bremen [Germany]
Total Passengers: 70 [see paragraph below]

On the cited recap, there are several mathematical errors. On the
line with the entries for the Schooner Leo, in the column "Females
Under 18 Years", there are very clear "ditto" ["] marks, indicating
the number 12. "Ditto" marks are used elsewhere in this recap, as
well as throughout the manifests written by this particular list
maker. However, in adding the column entries for the Schooner Leo,
the total passengers would be 82, not 70, indicating these 12
passengers were not included in the total of 70. The tabulations of
the various columns and lines on the recap for the other vessels
   listed, also have mathematical errors.

Had the first page of the manifest been included in this NARA film,
it likely would have been headed: "List of Passengers arrived from
Foreign ports, into the port of Galveston, during the quarter ending
June 30, 1846." There is a "cover sheet" type page which reads:
"Passengers Galveston (Texas) 2d Quarter 1846." Next is a typed page
that has been added which reads, "Pages 1-38 Missing". The next page
is numbered "39" and begins with the Schooner Leo information.

The manifest was not numbered. Passenger numbers have been added by
the transcriber to identify footnotes. Obviously there were more than
the 23 passengers shown on this transcription.

*  Passenger Notes:

2 Given name could be Aleice or Alene.
  3-7 Five children: Henricks/Henrick children?
  14-16 Three children: Schmidt children?
18 The manifest appears to be written Eihhorn, but possibly
Echhorn. The name should be written Eichhorn. See correspondence
      from descendent below.
  19-22 Four children: Eihhorn children?

Correspondence received by transcriber 10/31/99:

Peter Eichhorn came to Texas from Germany on this ship that ported in
Galveston, Texas. He settled in Castroville, Medina Co., TX and first
shows up on the 1850 Medina Co., TX census microfilm roll #912 on
page 392 and was a carpenter at the time of the census. He is listed
with the four children that he brought from Germany: Caroline age 14,
William age 12, Charles age 8 and Frederic age 5, all born in Germany.
Also listed is a fifth child, Louis age 1, born in Texas. Peter does
not have a wife listed with him on this census. My email address
is Renee Smelley and my website is Genealogy for Peter Eichhorn
