abt 1775? According to old letters, Samuel returned to Wales for schooling during his teen years, probably not returning to America until about 1781 when the Revolutionary War was over and travel was safe again.
1783 - Samuel Jones married Celia Jane Creech in Rowan, North Carolina
1784 - Daughter Martha Jones born in Montgomery, (now Grayson), Virginia
February 2, 1787 - son Stephen Jones born in Montgomery (now Grayson), Virginia
1790 census - lost for all of Virginia. Destroyed in August 1814 by British troops.
1793 - Grayson Co., Virginia was created from parts of Wythe County, Virginia.
Aug 1793 - Samuel Jones entered 50 acres on Beaver Creek, Grayson County, Virginia. (Book A, page 2)

Samuel Jones. Accused of having stolen and carried
away one mattock, the property of John Frost on October 1, 1808. The court found
him not guilty and ordered him acquitted and discharged out of custody.

Creek, Grayson County, VA Aug 1793(Book A, page 2) He must have lived near Enoch
Osborne who was ordered to appraise his estate on 17Jun 1824. William and Stephen
Jones were executors of the estate.
Samuel is buried in Mouth of Wilson, Grayson
Co., Virginia. Talked by phone (9/29/04) to James Madison Gilley, son of Isaiah
Tilden Gilley and gr-gr grandson of Samuel. He told me that Samuel died along
the road on a trip from Wise Co., Virginia to Grayson Co., Virginia and was buried
along side the road close to where he died.
