THE FAMILY OF WILLIAM THOMPSON & EVALINE
|William Thompson Jr. & Eveline||William Thompson Jr. was born on Dec 28, 1780 in that part of Virginia which later became Lincoln Co., Kentucky. His father, William Thompson Sr., had acquired a large tract of land along the Dix River after the Revolutionary War; starting in 1786 there are numerous land transactions recorded in the Lincoln County deed books where he transferred acreage to his children, including William Jr, his brother Alexander, and his brother-in-laws Will Logan, Elisha Prewitt and Christopher Singleton. William married Eveline about 1821, and they had one son, named Martin, born in 1822. According to Warren Reid's book, they were married in Ohio, but he lists Martin as being born in Lincoln Co., KY. I do not know when Eveline died, or if William remarried. William Thompson Jr. died in Gage Co., NE on Dec. 27, 1862. According to Warren Reid's book, William is buried in Dolen Cemetery, Gage Co., NE (the only Thompson marker remaining in Dolen Cemetery today is the one for their son Martin, who died in 1892.)|
The Children of William Thompson & Eveline:
|Martin Thompson||Martin William Thompson was born on October 14, 1822 in
Lincoln Co., Kentucky. Martin married Evalina Jones on August
10, 1843 in Lawrence Co., OH and they had 10 children. The family is listed
on the 1850 census Symms Twp, Lawrence Co., OH. Based on birth places of
their children, they lived in Ohio until about 1854 when they began a series
of moves. They had a child in Missouri in 1855 and a child in Texas in 1859.
They are listed on the 1860 census of Easton Twp., Leavenworth, KS, and
they had a child in Kansas in 1863. They settled in Nebraska by 1866, and
they are listed on the 1870 & 1880 censuses of Beatrice, Gage Co., NE.
Martin William Thompson died on April 30, 1892, probably in Gage Co.,
NE although I have information that he was shot while participating
in the Colorado gold rush. Evalina Jones Thompson died on April 17, 1894
in Gage Co., NE. They are both buried in the Dolen Cemetery, Gage Co.,
NE, but the only Thompson marker remaining is the one for Martin.
