Clinton July 5, 1870

Deer Sister I right you a few lines to let you no that I am well at present hoping these lines may find you all the same. I reseved you letter and was glad to hear from you all. We have had a very dry sumer hear everything is burnt up. Thar has been no raine sence march of any account every thing is burnt up the river is very loe the boats can hardly git up the river anymore but thar is no sickness hear yet so fare it is very helthy we had a long silabrachion hear yesterday thar was about one thousen pepel esembled to geather yosday we had a fine time on the bluff plenty to eat and drink and three bands of musek (1) William has com home last satday redy for the forth of july in Clinton he is well and as fat as a pig I blev I hav told you all the news I can this time when you ancer this I will send you a paper that you can see what going on in Clinton
