Daniel W. Meister
Daniel W. Meister, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Meister, was born in Franklin county, Penn., Jan. 1, 1854. When about three years of age his parents came to Mt. Carroll, Ill. Mr. Meister spent the greater part of his youthful days on the farm. About twenty-two years ago he moved with his family to Chadwick, where he lived until he was called by death to his eternal reward on August 8, 1925, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 7 days. On March 14th, 1878 he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Margaret Croft. To this happy union were born one son and three daughters. Their wedded life extended over a period of some 47 years, which was occasioned by much joy and happiness.
He was converted in his boyhood days and joined the United Brethren church. While living in Chadwick he attended the Evangelical church. Mr. Meister was a loving husband, a kind father, and a good neighbor. He will be greatly missed in the home and community.
He leaves to mourn his departure: his faithful wife, his son, H. E. of LaJara Colo. Three daughters, Maymie E. Weidman of Mt. Carroll; Laura M. Heth of Baldwin Park, Calif.; and Luva G. Meyers of Milledgeville. One brother, Hiram, of DeWitt, Nebr. One sister, Mrs. J. C. Kessler, of Mt. Carroll. Twelve grandchildren. One great-grandchild, many relatives and friends.

Mrs. Eliza Meister Laid to Rest
Funeral services for Mrs. Eliza Meister were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Lewis Weidman home, and at 2:30 in the Center Hill United Brethren Church. In charge was the Rev. Grover F. Foltz. Casket bearers were Raymond, George, Vernon and Robert Weidman and Allen Smith and Leslie Guenzler. Mrs. Mae Fulrath and Mrs. Anna ??ates sang "We are Going Down in the Valley", "One By One" and "We'll Never Say Goodbye in Heaven", accompanied by Miss Gladys Weidman on the piano. Mrs. Ida Seidenberg and Mrs. Alice Foltz were in charge of the floral offerings. the remains were laid to rest in Center Hill Cemetery.
Eliza M. Croft, daughter of Christopher and Margaret Croft, was born in Springfield, Ohio Jan. 29, 1859, and passed away on Dec. 16, 1936, in LaJara, Colo., aged 77 years, ten months and 13 days. At the age of nine years she came to Illinois and had lived in Carroll county practically all of her life.
She was married to David (note, should be Daniel) W. Meister, March 14, 1878, he having preceded her in death August 8, 1925. To this happy union were born one son and three daughters. Their wedded life extended over a period of forty-seven years, and was occasioned by much joy and happiness.
The deceased was converted in her girlhood and united with the United Brethren church. Mrs. Meister was a loving wife, a kind mother and a good neighbor, and will be greatly missed in the home and community.
She leaves to mourn her departure: one son, Howard E. of LaJara Colo.; three daughters, Mamie E. Weidman of Mt. Carroll; Laura M. Heth of Baldwin Park, Calif.; and Luva G. Meyers of Azusa, Calif. One sister, Rebecca Harr of Cheney, Wash,; and twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
