First marriage:
| John Christian Burkhardt & Sophia Pfeifer | Sophia Pfeifer was born on August 16, 1829 in Neuses, Sommersdorf, Bavaria, Germany. Sophia was married to John Christian Burkhardt on June 8, 1851 in Oswego, Kendall, Illinois and they had 2 daughters. He is listed as Christian J. Burkhardt on the marriage record, but as John Christian Burkhardt in Sophia's obituary. John died on July 30, 1854 in Grundy Co., Illinois. See below for more information Sophia's second marriage and links to notes for her. |
The Children of Christian John Burkhardt & Sophia Pfeifer:
| Margaret Burkhardt Hahn | Margaret Burkhardt was born in September
1852 in Illinois. Her father died on July 30, 1854 in Grundy Co., Illinois
when Margaret was not quite age 2, and her mother was remarried to George Michael
Hahn on January 31, 1855 when Margaret was age 2-1/2. George Hahn raised Margaret
as his own, and she was listed on all later census records before her marriage
as Margaret Hahn. Margaret is listed with her stepfather & mother on
the 1860 census of Goodfarm, Grundy, Illinois; the family is mistakenly twice
in 1860 in both households #399 & #416. Margaret is listed at age 18 with
her stepfather & mother on the 1870 census of Dwight, Livingston, Illinois.

found her on the 1920 or 1930 censuses at this time so cannot confirm. Margaret
