Got so excited, I fired back a quick reply. Denison, IA has one "N", by the way! That is where we all lived until we took off for college. I'm not sure what date my grandparents left Nebraska for Denison, IA. Grandpa (Henry) began a feed and grain mill and a chicken hatchery/egg business, Triple T Feed, for the father and 2 sons.
Susie and Henry had two sons, my dad, Lester Dale Tenhulzen and my uncle Gene Tenhulzen. Uncle Gene was unfortunately killed in a car accident in 1950, leaving his wife, Elizabeth and their 4 children, Marjorie, Neal, Kirby and Jeannie (a newborn, at the time). Aunt Liz remarried and had one more son, Eddie. My grandfather, Henry "Cook" TenHulzen died in 1952 from complications following gall bladder surgery. My dad, Lester Dale TenHulzen died in May of 1973. Grandma Susie lived until the end of December 1973, having outlived her husband and two sons, but leaving 10 grandchildren. We are scattered from Iowa, to Colorado, to Washington state and California. My mother, Lorraine Lister Tenhulzen Devine is still living. She's 86 and in a retirement community in Alhambra, CA.
This is so exciting!
