My son Dirk, who teaches at Oxford, has forwarded to me your message of April 27 requesting family history information. I can tell you that my husband, Dirk's father, was the son of Richard who was a son of Derk Jan Engelbarts Obbink and Berendina Fredrieka Nusselder. Besides Richard there was Henry, Helena, Albert, Gerrit, John, Ben, Dena, Elizabeth, Minnie, Susan and Anna. So, yes, it is the same family. There are still a few Obbinks living in the area of Holland, Nebraska, where a number of Dutch families settled. Holland is about 20 miles south of Lincoln.

A Grandson of Henry Obbink compiled a family history a few years back, of which I have a copy. Bruce Obbink did extensive research on this family history. Should you wish to contact him, his address is Bruce Obbink, 835 Seventeen Mile Drive, Pacific Grove, CA 93950.

Last year I received an e-mail from a Brenda Obbink in Cherokee, Iowa, requesting family info. She said she was descendant of John Obbink. Of Derk and Berendina's family, I personally knew Henry, Ben, Susan and, of course, Richard. Richard still has two daughters, Algeretta and Lucille, living here in Lincoln. They are, of course, my sisters-in-law so see them quite often.

I hope this will be of some help to you in your search.
Dorithy Obbink
