From history my mother left me,the Brooks family was of English orgin and fought under William Prince of Orange. One of them was given the title of Sir and received a large land estate in Northern Island. When he died he left his eldes son the estate and the tree youngest sons 5000 lbs (about $25,000 US dollars). The brothers Imigrated to the new world. One of the brothers settled in Massachuetts and was the father of Reverend Phillips Brooks who was born in 1893 at Boston. A memorial was erected to his memory in 1910 by Saint Guardens of Cofley Square near Trinity Church in Boston, Massachuetts.
Another brother settled in New Jersey near Bound Brock in 1720. (I question this date?). My information goes on to say this brother's son, named David, was my mother's 5th great grandfather, but do not have a first name. Then David had a son named David who was mother's 4th gr grandfather. David had a son named James who was my mother's 3rd gr grandfather, James had 4 sons and 2 daughters, Clarkson Freeman Brooks, was my mother's gr gr grandfather. Clarkson Brooks settled in the state of New York near Rochester. He moved to Miami Co., OH and lived on Springcreek near the place where the present Staution Twp Centralized School Stands. He married Sarah Clark the daughter of James and Jennie Seyburn Clark. They had four daughters, Jane Brooks Sterrod, Sarah Brooks French, Amanda Brooks Albertson, and Catherine Parmelia Brooks Peterson,my great, great grandmother. There were 8 sons; two Clarkson's, two Davids, James, Hiram, Freeman, Coooount Debrasee Brooks. Any one with information on this line and history please contact me. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks Carolyn
