Stroke Fatal to Kathrine Fuss
In Ill Health Past Seven Years; Funeral Services Sunday
Mrs. Kathrine Fuss, wife of Henry Fuss, Sr., and a resident of Grand Island for 55 years, died shortly before 8 o'clock this morning in a local hospital. Mrs. Fuss had been in ill health the last seven years, but had entered the hospital only last night after suffering a stroke. The family home is at 321 East Division.
Kathrine Claus was born in the German settlement at Norka, Russia on Apr. 5, 1875, the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Conrad Claus. She was 16 years of age when the Claus family emigrated to America. After a residence of six months at Sutton the family came to Grand Island.
She was married to George Schleicher at Kearny. To them four children were born. Mr. Schleicher died in 1914.
On Nov. 1, 1919, she was married to Henry Fuss.
Mrs. Fuss was baptized and confirmed in her religious faith in Russia and was a member of the Pilgrims Congregational church.
Besides her husband, she is revived by her son and daughter, John H. Schleicher, Grand Island, and Mrs. Blanche Northup, Lincoln; three step-sons, Henry Fuss, Jr., Alex Fuss, and John B. Fuss, all of Grand Island; two step-daughters, Mrs. Katie Kammersell and Mrs. Henry Liebsack, Jr. both of Grand Island; four brothers, Adam and John Claus, Windsor, Colo., Pete Claus, Denver, Colo., and Henry Claus, Cheyenne, Wyo; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Cadwalder, Windsor, Colo., and Mrs. Dora Thomas, Denver, Colo.; thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her first husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by two infant children, George and Marie Schleicher, one brother, Conrad Claus, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Jacoby, Dora Claus, and Anna Hopps.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon in the Livingston-Sonderman funeral home. Rev. Emmanuel Gackle, pastor of Pilgrims Congregational Church will conduct the rites. Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
