Lacy were married about 1805, probably in New York. They had at least 8 children.
I have not found the family in 1810 at this time. Based on birthplaces of their
children, the family lived in New York until they moved to Gallia Co., Ohio about
1818. The family is listed on the 1820 census of Gallipolis, Gallia Co., OH. The
numbers are not correct for ages of their children, but the census page was typed
(probably transcribed from an original handwritten record), and I think errors
must have been made in the transcription. They are listed on the 1830 census of
Green, Gallia Co., OH. They are listed on the 1840 & 1850 censuses of Harrison,
Gallia Co., OH. In 1850 Jonathan is age 72, Mary is 66, and both are listed as
born in NY. Jonathan's occupation was listed as Farmer. In 1860, they are living
with married son Theodore in Green, Gallia Co., OH, but Mary's name is listed
as Abigail. That census also lists Jonathan, Abigail and Theodore as all being
born in Massachusetts, which I do not think is correct. Jonathan Gilbert died
on November 26, 1861 in Gallia Co., OH. Mary Lacy Gilbert died on June 26, 1866
in Gallia Co., OH. Jonathan & Mary are both buried in the Rose Cemetery

| Phebe Gilbert | Phebe Gilbert was born in January 5, 1806 in New
York. I have not found her parents on the census in 1810, but they had children
born in New York in 1806, 1811, 1814 & 1817. The family moved from New York
to Gallia Co., OH about 1818, and they are listed on the 1820 census of Gallipolis,
Gallia Co., OH with a female the right age to be Phebe, age 14. Phebe married
Calvin King on October 2, 1824 in Gallia Co., OH. At the time of the marriage,
Phebe was age 18 and Calvin was age 27. Calvin & Phebe had at least 8 children.
I have not found the family in 1840 - there are two households headed by Calvin
Kings in Ohio, but both have heads of household age 20-30, and Calvin should be
age 44. The family is listed on the 1850 census of Wilkesville, Vinton Co., OH
with Calvin's occupation listed as Farmer. They are listed on the 1860 census
of Bloomfield, Jackson Co., OH with Calvin's occupation listed as Farm Hand. In
1870, Calvin is listed as Infirm in the household of daughter Elizabeth McClaskey
in Morgan, Gallia Co., OH, and Phebe is listed as Infirm, and living with married
son George in Bloomfield, Jackson Co., OH. In 1880, Calvin is listed as Feeble
in the Gallia County Infirmary, Gallipolis, Gallia Co., OH, and Phebe is living
with son James King in Bloomfield, Jackson, Ohio. Online trees report that Phebe
Gilbert King died on May 22, 1881 in Jackson Co., Ohio. Calvin died on April
11, 1885 in Gallipolis, Gallia, Ohio. Children of Calvin King & Phebe Gilbert
are Mary Ester (1828), Elizabeth (1830), Malinda (1831), Harriet (1835), James

| Hannah Gilbert | Hannah Gilbert was born on July 4, 1809 in New
York. I have not found her parents on the census in 1810, but they had children
born in NY in 1809, 1811, 1814 & 1817, and Hannah is listed on all later census
records as being born in New York. The family moved from New York to Gallia Co.,
OH about 1818, and they are listed on the 1820 census of Gallipolis, Gallia Co.,
OH. Hannah married George Vernon Northup on October 19, 1828 in Gallia
Co., OH. (George was the son of Thomas Jefferson Northup, & grandson of Daniel
Northup & Ann Hampton. George's brother Henry Clay Northup married Hannah's
sister Charlotte in 1837, and his cousin Stephen Monroe Northup married Hannah's
sister Harriet Eliza Gilbert in 1843.) George & Hannah had 6 children. The
family is listed on the 1830 census of Harrison, Gallia Co., OH, and on the 1840,

1819 in Gallia Co., Ohio. Her parents had moved with their family from New
York to Gallia Co., OH about 1818, and they are listed on the 1820 census of Gallipolis,

Stephen Monroe Northup on December 21, 1843 in Gallia Co., OH. (Stephen was
the son of Hampton Northup, and grandson
of Daniel Northup & Ann Hampton. Stephen's
cousin George Vernon Northup had married Harriet's older sister Hannah in 1828,
and his cousin Henry Clay Northup had married Harriet's older sister Charlotte
in 1837.) Stephen & Harriet had 11 children. The family is listed on the 1850
census of Harrison Twp., Gallia Co., OH. They moved to Iowa in the spring of 1853
and settled in Jefferson County near Abingdon. They also lived in Keokuk and Wapello
Counties. The family is listed on the 1860 census of Lancaster Twp., Keokuk Co.,
IA. Stephen enlisted for service in the Civil War in 1864 and served as Private
in the 40th Iowa Volunteers Co. I until the close of the war. During his absence
in service, the home was burned by Southern sympathizers. There were ten children,
the youngest was about 3 at this time.The family is listed on the 1870 census
of Competine Twp, Wapello Co., IA. In 1874 they moved to Rooks Co., Kansas, where
they homesteaded. A biography on their youngest daughter Emma states that the
family homesteaded one mile west of Woodston in 1874, just in time to experience
the disastrous grasshopper invasion for that year. The same biography also says
"The Northups were of a staunch, Puritan stock, originally from Ohio."
Stephen & Harriet and family are listed on the 1880 census of Iowa Twp., Rooks
Co., KS. They are listed on the 1885 & 1895 state censuses of Lowell, Rooks
Co., KS. Harriet Eliza Gilbert Northup died on August 16, 1898 in Rooks Co.,
KS. Stephen is listed at age 81 on the1900 census of Lowell Twp., Rooks Co.,
KS in the household of his widowed daughter Mary Ann Hornish; also living with
them at that time was another widowed daughter, Elizabeth E. Hornish, and her
son Roy. Stephen died on March 09, 1903 in Woodston, Rooks Co., KS. Children of
Stephen Monroe Northup & Harriet Eliza Gilbert were Mary Ann (1844), Elizabeth
Ellen (1846), Missouri Charlotte (1847), Amanda (1848), Daniel Taylor (1849),
Abram Gilbert (1850), Cyrus Winfield (1852), Matilda Rachel (1854), Charles Monroe

in Gallia Co., OH. There is male the right age group to be Charles, age 6,

OH. There is male the right age group to be Charles, age 16, in the household
of Jonathan Gilbert on the 1840 census of Harrison, Gallia Co., OH. Charles married
Julia Ann Roadarmour on July 10, 1845 in Gallia Co. OH, and they had 7
children. The family is listed on the 1850 census of Harrison, Gallia Co., OH,
and on the 1860 census of Green, Gallia Co., OH. Julia died on August 05, 1865,
and Charles was married second to Maria Compton on September 3, 1866 in
Gallia Co., OH. I have not found the family on the 1870 census at this time. Charles
was married third to Melinda Johnson Wooten on June 20, 1874 in Gallia
Co., OH. Melinda was the widow of Abram W. Wooten, who had died in 1872. Melinda
had 7 children from her first marriage to Abram Wooten. In 1880, both Charles
& Melinda are listed in Guyan, Gallia Co., OH, but not in the same household.
Charles is listed at age 56 as Father-in-law in the household of his married daughter
Charlotte (Mrs. Alex.) Seigler. "Molinda" Gilbert is listed as head
of household with 5 of the Wooten children from her first marriage. I have not
found Charles on the 1900 census at this time. Charles Gilbert died sometime
after 1880, and probably before 1900 in Gallia Co., OH, although that would need
to be confirmed. Children of Charles Gilbert & Julia Ann Roadarmour were
William (1844), John (1846), Charlotte (1848), Thomas (1851), James (1855), Barbery

Abram Gilbert died on October 19, 1886 in Gallia Co., OH. He is buried
