Casualties - We understand that Mr. HENRY SPRINGFIELD was frozen to death on the night of the 18th inst., about 12 miles above this place. The weather was very cold, the ground covered with snow, and we regret to add, that the deceased was somewhat intoxicated. He has left a wife and several children to mourn his sudden and unexpected departure.

Hi Kari,
I do not have much on Henry.He was born July 23 1791 and died Feb,18 1936. He froze to death walking home drunk.The paper said he left a wife and several children.
The 2 children I know for is Milly and Thomas Young. I think there were 3 more, I can not find the paper it was on.
Thomas Young was born Jan.27 1815 and died Oct 28 1888. He married Malessia E. Hall Nov.8 1840
Henry wife was Levenia ?
I will try to e-mail you more information if I can get my scanner to work. I am new at this computer.
Anything you can send me on Milly would be great. All I have is who she married. I don`t have her birth date.

I haven't found anything on their children or Henry's parents.I think his daddy was William Hester and mother was Susan Crenshaw. (Note from K - this Mary is Mary Finley, not a daughter of Henry Springfield. Henry Hester's second wife was Mary Springfield, daughter of Pinckney Springfield and granddaughter of Henry Springfield.) How are you doing? I have also found 3 living distant cousins.Kathy is down from Sofronia,Thomas Young's daughter.Another Kathy is down Mary Jane Springfield, Thomas young's daughter. Janice is down Pinckney's line.
