Jane Colston about 1835 in TN and they had 9 children. The William Moore household
on the 1840 census of Grainger Co., TN is the only exact match for what the numbers
should be for this family on the www.ancestry.com index for households headed
by William Moore (soundexed) There is also a William Moore family in White Co.,
TN in 1840 that could be them if the census taker listed oldest daughter Lucinda
as age 5 instead of age 3 or 4 that she should have been. Their son Joseph gave
a signed affadavit in his military pension that he was born August 12, 1841 in
Warren Co., TN. On January 3, 1840, Van Buren Co., TN had been established from
the lands of Bledsoe, Warren and White counties. William & Jane and their
family are listed on the 1850 census of 2nd District, VanBuren Co, TN. They emigrated
from TN to Lawrence Co, MO about 1852. The family is listed on the 1860 &
1870 censuses of Mt. Vernon Twp., Lawrence Co., MO. They were members of the Sycamore
Baptist Church in Lawrence Co., MO. William Moore died sometime between 1870
to 1880. Jane is listed as V. Moore, widowed, living with her married daughter
Martha Moore Hood on the 1880 census of Center, Greene, Missouri. Jane Moore
probably died between Sept. 29 1886 to Sept 28, 1887 in Greene Co., MO. There
is a Jennie Moore who is listed in the death records of the Prospect Baptist church
in Greene Co., MO who may be this Jane as D. D. & Rachel (Moore) Redfearn

| Lucinda Moore | Lucinda Moore was born on July
6, 1836 in TN. She is listed with her parents at age 14 on the 1850 census
of 2nd District, VanBuren Co, TN. Her parents emigrated from TN to Lawrence Co,
MO about 1852 when she was about age 16. Lucinda married Thomas Richard Jeffords
on November 18, 1858 in Lawrence Co., MO and they had 5 children. The family is
listed on the 1860 & 1870 censuses of Mt. Vernon, Lawrence Co., MO. Thomas
Jeffords died on January 29, 1879. Lucinda is listed on the 1880, 1900 & 1910
censuses of Mt. Vernon, Lawrence. In 1900 she is listed as widowed, with 4 births
& 1 surviving child. On the 1910 census she is listed as Cinda Jeffords, age
72, widowed, living with her son David and his family. She is one of the 4 surviving
sisters in Joseph Moore's obit printed on Jan. 23, 1919. Lucinda Moore Jeffords

| Jack Moore | John "Jack" Moore was
born on February 12, 1838 in Warren Co., Tennessee. He is listed at age 12
with his parents on the 1850 census 2nd District, VanBuren Co, TN. His parents
emigrated from TN to Lawrence Co, MO about 1852 when he was about age 14. He is
listed at age 22 with his parents on the 1860 census of Mt. Vernon Twp, Lawrence
Co., MO. John married Nancy McDonald on August 02, 1860 in Lawrence Co.,
MO, and they had 9 children. Based on birthplaces of their children they moved
from Missouri to Kansas about 1866, and they are listed on the 1870 census of
Lowell, Cherokee Co., KS. They returned to Missouri sometime between 1870 to 1880,
and they are listed on the 1880 census of Ash Grove, Greene, Missouri. John
"Jack" Moore died on February 26, 1897 in Ash Grove, Greene Co., MO.
Nancy died there also on October 29, 1906. | |
| Olly Jane Moore | Olly Jane Moore was born about 1839 in Tennessee.
She is listed with her parents as Olly Jane, age 11, on the 1850 census of 2nd
District, VanBuren Co, TN. Her parents emigrated from TN to Lawrence Co, MO about
1852 when she was about age 13. I have not found her on the 1860 census at this
time. Olly Jane married Jasper McKey/McKee on May 11, 1862 in Webster,
Missouri and they had at least 1 daughter. Court records show that in January
1867 Jasper McKee was arrested in Lawrence Co., MO on a charge of Grand Larceny
for stealing 16 head of hogs. He was placed in a Greene Co., MO jail as there
was no jail in Lawrence County, but he escaped from the jail on March 15, 1867
and was still "at large" as of May 4, 1867. Jane (age 30) is listed
in the household of her parents on the 1870 census of Mt. Vernon Twp., Lawrence
Co., MO with daughter Mary McKey, who had been born about 1854 in MO. I don't
know when or where Olly Jane Moore McKey died, but it was after 1870, and before
1919. I have not found her on the 1880 census, or any after that, at this
time. She is not one of the 4 surviving sisters in Joseph Moore's obit printed

| Joseph Moore | Joseph Moore was born on August
12, 1841 in Warren Co., TN. He is listed with his parents as Joel, age 9,
on the 1850 census of 2nd District, VanBuren Co, TN. His parents emigrated from
TN to Lawrence Co, MO about 1852 when he was about age 11. He is listed with his
parents as Joel, age 18, on the 1860 census of Mt. Vernon Twp, Lawrence Co., MO.
Joseph married Nancy Hulstine on December 27, 1861. His pension file states
that they were married in Camden, MO. They settled in Lawrence Co., MO, and they
had 11 children, 8 of whom lived to adulthood. Joseph & Nancy are listed on
the 1870, 1900 & 1910 census of Mt. Vernon, and on the 1880 census in Lincoln,
all in Lawrence Co., MO. Joseph & Nancy were Baptists, and were charter members
of the Summit Church in Mt. Vernon. Both Joseph & Nancy died in the spring
of 1919, Joseph on January 17, 1919 and Nancy on March 14, 1919. They are
buried in Summit Cemetery in Lawrence Co., MO. Joseph's obit says, " 'Uncle
Joe',as he was familiarly known, was loved and respected by all who knew him." | |

Moore was born on October 12, 1844 in White or Madison Co., TN. She is listed
with her parents at age 6 on the 1850 census of 2nd District, VanBuren Co, TN.
Her parents emigrated from TN to Lawrence Co, MO about 1852 when she was about
age 8. She is listed with her parents at age 16 on the 1860 census of Mt. Vernon
Twp, Lawrence Co., MO; listed in the household also is Thomas Holley, age 22,
(Thomas Hollingsworth), who married Mary Ann Moore on July 22, 1860. Mary
Ann & Thomas had 8 children. The family is listed on the 1870 census of Mt.
Vernon, Lawrence Co., MO. They moved to neighboring Greene Co., MO sometime between
1870 to 1880, and they are listed on the 1880, 1900, 1910 & 1920 censuses
of Center Twp, Greene, MO. Thomas died in 1925. Mary Ann is one of the 4 surviving

| Rachel Moore | Rachel Moore was born on January
4, 1847 in TN. She is listed with her parents at age 4 on the 1850 census
of 2nd District, VanBuren Co, TN. Her parents emigrated from TN to Lawrence Co,
MO about 1852 when she was about age 6. She is listed with her parnets at age
13 on the 1860 census of Mt. Vernon Twp, Lawrence Co., MO. Rachel married McHenry
Simmons/Seamons/Simons on December 28, 1865 in Lawrence Co., MO. I have not
found any record of any children. They are listed on the 1870 census of King's
Prairie, Barry Co., MO with no children at that time. I don't know if McHenry
died or they divorced, but Rachel remarried David Daniel Redfearn on September
28, 1879. David was a widower with 5 young children from his first marriage to
Susan Emeline Magill, and David & Rachel had at least one more son
named Major. The family is on the 1880, 1900 & 1910 censuses of Center Twp.,
Greene, MO. She is one of the 4 surviving sisters in Joseph Moore's obit printed

| Martha Elizabeth Moore | Martha Elizabeth Moore was born on
July 16, 1851 in Van Buren, TN. Her parents emigrated from Tennessee to Lawrence
Co, Missouri about 1852 when she was about age 1. Martha is listed with her parents
at age 9 on the 1860 census and age 18 on the 1870 census, both in Mt. Vernon
Twp, Lawrence Co., MO. Martha married Marion Madison Hood in 1878, probably
in Lawrence or Greene Co., MO, and they had 6 children. The family is listed on
the 1880, 1900, 1910 & 1920 censuses of Center Twp., Greene Co., MO. Martha
is one of the 4 surviving sisters in Joseph Moore's obit printed on Jan. 23, 1919.
Marion died on March 8, 1923 in Ash Grove, Greene Co., MO. Martha Elizabeth
Moore Hood died on Oct. 21, 1928 in Boone Twp., Greene Co., MO. Cause of death
was listed as Bronchial Pneumonia. Marion & Martha are buried in the Johns

| Nancy Moore | Nancy Moore was born about 1853 in MO. She is listed with her parents at age 7 on the 1860 census of Mt. Vernon Twp, Lawrence Co., MO. She is not listed with her parents on the 1870 census, and I have not been able to find her on any other census records. I do not know when or where Nancy Moore died, but it was after 1860 and before 1919. She is not one of the 4 surviving sisters in Joseph Moore's obit printed on Jan. 23, 1919. | |
| Delia O. Moore | Delia O. Moore was born on May 1856 in MO.
She is listed with her parents at age 4 on the 1860 census and at age 14 on the
1870 census, both in Mt. Vernon Twp, Lawrence Co., MO. Delia married William
Overall on January 17, 1878 in Greene Co., MO. William was a widower with
2 small children from his first marriage to Rebecca Thompson. William &
Delia had 9 more children. I have not been able to find the family on the 1880
census at this time. They are listed on the 1900 & 1910 censuses of Van Buren
Twp, Newton Co., MO. Delia Moore Overall died on June 22, 1914 in Lawrence
Co., MO. William died on December 29, 1917, and they are both buried in Summit
