married James J. Stroud sometime between 1860- 1867 and they had at least
9 children. I have not found them on the 1870 census at this time. The family
is listed on the 1880 census of Bates, Greenville Co., SC. Sophronia Melison
Springfield Stroud died on November 10, 1896, probably in Greenville Co., SC.
James is listed as widowed on the 1900 census of Dacusville, Pickens, South Carolina.
James remarried Mrs. Spicie Larena (Browning) Landreth about 1906, and
they are both listed on the 1910 census of Bates, Greenville, SC in the household
of married son Duff Stroud. Spicie Stroud is also listed that same year in the
household of her married daughter Manda (Nathan) Hoyt in Greenville, Greenville,
SC. James Stroud died on March 16, 1917 in Marietta, Greenville, South Carolina.

Co., SC with Henderson's occupation listed as proprietor, grocery store. Ella
is listed as having 4 births with 4 surviving children in 1900, and as having
3 births with 3 surviving children in 1910. Ella died on October 02, 1918. Henderson
is listed as widowed, and living with his married daughter Cora Parris on the
1920 census of Greenville, Greenville Co., SC. He is still living daughter Cora
on the 1930 census of Greenville Twp., Greenville Co., SC, but at that time Cora

killed by his son, Young Ernest Springfield, in an argument. Young was age 16
at the time. Newspaper accounts of the death state that Thomas was a grocery store
