I Kenneth DYE of the county of Mason & state of KY being in a low state of health but of perfect mine & memory, do this fifteenth day of March & year of our Lord one thousand eighteen hundred & seventeen make & ordain this insturment of writing as my last will & testament & do dispose of my estate real & personal in the following manner/

In give to my son David DYE one young bay horse four years old, one cow & calf & six sheep & six hog. I give to my son James Dye bare mare called Iin & fifteen dollars in money & four sheep. I give to my son Hiram DYE ninety dollars to paid him when he arrives at the age of twenty one years. I give to my son Kenneth DYE one hundred dollars & the and ... I now use, the money to be paid him at the age of twenty one. I give to my daughter Jane one bed & bedding & curtains one looking glass & sixty dollars all out of my personal estate. I give to my beloved wife Phebe DYE all the property she brought to me including slaves & housefold furniture. Also provisions of bread & meat sufficient for six months, & two hogs also one half of the rent of the place for the last year, providing she shall except of it as her right of dower on in lieu of her thirds, all the remainder of my estate which is & here disposed to be equally divided between all my sons & daughters towit Peter DYE, WIlliam DYE the children of my deceased daughters Rachel, Margaret & Martha & my daughters Phebe & Jane that is to say the two children of my daughter Rachel to have one share divided between them, the children of my daughter Margaret to have one share divided between them, the children of my daughter Martha to have one share divided between them to be kept interest or laid out in bankstock for them that is all except their share of land at the descretion of my executor to the best advantage year by year till my youngest son comes of age at which it shall be equally divided between all my sons & daugheters & deceased daughters children as before named together with all rents & money that may be left after bring up & sufficiently schooling my youngest son & daughter & my son Hiram six months schooling & payig all my just debts, it is my desire that my sons Hiram & Kenneth be put to trades, such as they may choose, & I do here by appoint my friend Jonathan ROSS executor to this my last will & testament, also guardians to all my children under age. In witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the day & year above named.

Rachel DYE b. 16 Feb 1785 d. Oct 1808 in Mayslick, Mason County, KY. Married John SHOTWELL 10 March, 1803 in Mayslick, Mason, KY

John SHOTWELL b. 29 Jan 1777 in Scotts Plain, NJ and d. 3 July 1824 in Mayslick, Mason, KY. He is son of John SHOTWELL ( b. 1753 d. 1826) and Abigail Shipman (b. 1754 d. 1835). After Rachel's death, John married (2) Sarah (Sally) Burroughs and had 5 more children.

Rachel DYE and John SHOTWELL had:

Ann SHOTWELL b. 28 March 1805 in Mayslick, Mason, KY and d. 22 May 1890 in Perry, Ralls, MO and is buried in Lick Creek Cemetery in Perry, Ralls, MO.
Ann married (1) John Cash 16 Oct 1826 in Mason Co., KY (Marriage Records of Mason County, KY. Book in FHL US/CAN 976.932 v.25m) The family came to MO in 1830 or 1831.
Ann married (2) Samuel C. Allison 22 July, 1850 in Pike County, MO. No children.
Ann married (3) Mijamin Templeton 2 July, Pike Co., MO. Source: Marriage Records Pike Co., MO Book 3, p.133. No children.

Second child of Rachel DYE and John SHOTWELL:
Lorana SHOTWELL b. 22 July, 1806 d. 1 Oct 1824. Unmarried. This information was in the book SHOTWELL by Ambrose SHOTWELL, 1895.

Ann SHOTWELL m. John CASH 16 Oct 1826 in Mason Co., KY. John was b. 1803 and died 1840.

3. William B. CASH b. 24 Feb 1829 KY, d. 15 March 1907. m. (1) 7 March, 1844 Emily Holiday in Pike Co., MO. (2) 6 March 1851 Mary Eliza Thornton.
4. Rachel CASH b. 15 Feb 1831 prob in Pike Co., MO, d. 2 Feb 1890 in Ralls Co., MO. married John G. NICHOLS 27 June 1850 in Pike Co., MO. Rachel and John are both buried in Lick Creek Cemetery in Perry, Ralls, MO. THIS IS MY g-grand parents.
5. Benjamin CASH b. 1833 in Frankford, Pike, MO. died 1854. In the 1850 census of Pike Co., MO he is age 17 and idiotic.
6. Cornelia Ellen CASH b. 22 April 1835 in Frankford, Pike, MO and died 25 August 1931 in Joplin, Jasper County, MO. Married James Garret Thornton 4 Jan 1854 in Pike Co., MO.
7. Jasper S. CASH b. 5 Jan 1837 in Frankford, Pike, MO. Died 5 June 1915. Married Emarine Porter 25 Oct 1861.

Rachel CASH and John J. NICHOLS had 10 children, but I will only list my direct line. If more info is needed , let me know.

Child #3 is William Jasper NICHOLS b. 4 Feb 1855 in Adair Co., MO. Died 10 Feb, 1942 in Perry, Ralls, MO. Married (1) Martha J. Quinn 4 April, 1877 in Ralls Co., MO and had 4 children. (2) Margaret Elizabeth STRICKLER 18 April 1895 Ralls County, MO. MY GRANDMOTHER.

Hazel Lee NICHOLS (MY MOTHER) b. 26 July, 1899 Monroe Co., MO, died 22 July, 1980 Audrain Co., MO. Buried Lick Creek Cemetery, Perry, Ralls, MO. Married Malone HARRIS 27 Aug 1927 in Perry, Ralls, MO.

Hazel NICHOLS and Malone HARRIS had 6 children, only 3 lived to adulthood. Austin killed in Korea 1950. Ruby living. I am Linda Lou HARRIS, living m. David Hayes CLARKE
