Amanda Goodin Cox, daughter of Eben and Jane Goodin, was born in Knox county, Kentucky, December 25, 1849 and departed this life at her home in Princeton March 6, 1929 at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 11 days.
She came with her parents to this county in 1856. She was married to James F. Cox March 19, 1865. To this union 12 children were born. The deceased are: Scotty, Charles, Jack, Mrs. Kate Brummett and Mrs. Cora May Hart. Those who are left to mourn her departure are the aged husband, James F. Cox; W. T. Cox; Daniel N.; Mrs. Rachel Morin; Mrs. Upton McElfish all of Mercer county; J. Frank Cox of Billings, Mont.; John F. Cox of Salmon, Idaho; Mrs. Marg hart of Jonesboro, Ark.; two sisters, Mrs. Perlee Griffin and Mrs. Anna Brown of Princeton.
She was a member of the Christian church and lived a faithful member until death. She was stricken down a number of years ago, but bore her suffering patiently until God called her home.
To lose mother will be to miss her. Her sun has gone down, but we know it riseth somewhere, and thoÕ we miss her, she will brighten the home thatÕs prepared for her up yonder, where her sufferings and sorrows are no more.
Funeral services were held at the home Friday morning, conducted by Rev. c. E. Nichols, pastor of the Princeton church. She was buried in the Princeton cemetery.

Subject: Re: Amanda Goodin Cox children
The information
in my Pioneer Traces article was taken form History of Fuson Family by H.H. Fuson.
I have found several errors coming from this source.
The article in the Pioneer
Traces (p. 209) written by Dianne Toombs has several differences. She is a direct
descendent of James & Amanda Cox.
The last paragraph: Amanda died on March 6, 1929 at age 79 and is buried in the Princeton cemetery. James F. was married second on March 21, 1930 to Mrs. Dolly Sims, widow of Cyrus Sims. James died on December 26, 1934, at the age of 92 and is buried beside Amanda in the Princeton cemetery.

On children of Amanda Goodin I have corrected birthdate I had for Kate.
I thought she was the Nannie listed on the 1900 as being born July 1880 and age
19 because sister Anna was age 3 on the 1880 census. They must have gotten the
wrong age for Anna "Nannie" in 1900. I did have from Amanda's obit that
Kate had married a Brummett, and you have that she married -Jackson. The brother
you list right after Kate was named Andrew Jackson Cox, known as Jack - was the
Jackson for him instead?

county history (Pioneer Traces pub 1997)
